If the Type 41 license does allow bottles to go the likely reason, which is the case for many businesses in SD and BA's seem to ignore, the SDPD put conditions on their license forbidding them from selling bottles to go.

Yeah I think a lot of people don’t realize how much power SDPD wields in these matters. Excerpt from an article ModernTimesJacob wrote:

That's pretty interesting. I know SDPD is harsh in general but that is so over the top. SFPD is not like that at all regarding alcohol licenses up here. They have crackheads to worry about.

I should have qualified my statement by saying I am basing this info on what a bartender at Toronado told me (wanted to get a PNC). He said that only 2 places in San Diego (city?) had old enough licenses that allowed them to sell off premise (I assume this is tied to what Mrkrispy and Sageo refence above). One of the places he referenced was O'Breins (I forgot the other) and funnily enough they only sell imports to go. Of course Churchill's does, but they are county not city.

I don't think it has changed yet, but O'briens can only sell imports to go. Neighborhood was trying to get a "to-go" license and it was contested by Super Jr. market...not sure whatever came of it

I'm sure they put chlorine in the bottle just for you. What a bunch of bastards.

41 & 42 licenses are still very common and both widely available and easy to get. They both allow off and on sales, however, ANY license can have restrictions or caveats. The terms are issued and negotiated with the ABC at the time of application, or inherited when the license is transferred.

I must be confusing it with something else. Thanks for clearing that up!

What is very confusing about this is that our previous mayor, a big craft beer proponent who still shows up at a lot of events, is also our former police chief. You'd think he's still have some influence in the department.

I watched a documentary called L.A. Confidential (hosted by Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce) last weekend and I was shocked at the corruption rampant in the LAPD. I'll bet the same thing's going on in San Diego.

I suspect vice is mostly untouchable, and Jerry probably doesn't want to encroach on their territory because they have a lot of dirt on him.

I've never been to a CC release. Does anybody know if bottles/draft last until the next day?

There was draft CC last year but it was only a single sixtel and it only lasted an hour or so if I remember correctly. They had plenty of bottles.

That's correct, it was tapped at 5 I believe, and I arrived just before 6 and was shut out on draft. It made me rather nostalgic for 2010 when it was $3 for a 6oz glass and there was no crowd so you could sit there and order glass after glass.
