Good idea...damn proprietary hop strain :slight_frown:

I am not sure, but I am guessing they are at the mercy of the hop farms on this one. I wonder if they couldn't procure Simcoe and Citra this year, so they got what they could. Considering there is a new brewery popping up daily, it is probably getting harder all the time.

Better then most of the beer around!?! No, and I'm a Surly fan. I drank my last can last night hoping that my taste buds were "off" from the can the previous night. Nope, still tasted average at best. And at $16 it felt like a rip off. Not sure what the ABV is on Wet but it tasted like a 2 year old Hopslam. All the hops seemed muted but you could sense the alcohol underneath. If Surly couldn't maintain the recipe then change the name. Call it something else.

The recipe has never been the same, it changes every year.

Stopped into Murado (Northeast Minneapolis, grungy store) yesterday to check on Wet, which they did not have. But, they still have Abrasive in the cooler...

Thought the beer tasted great and will grab another 4-pack if I get the opportunity. Did miss that awesome aroma you got from the two previous years versions when you would stick your nose in the glass after a good aggressive pour.

MGM Calhoun is then either intentionally cellaring beer & putting it out randomly, or they lost those bottles of Doom. I went in after the release & the beer buyer dug around & gave me their "last" bottle...months ago. Funny.

I was there on Tuesday night and they were in the middle of a re-organization of the coolers and shelving. My guess they found them in the cooler.

they are purposely cellaring stuff, I have found a few treasures there, mainly a random 11 abyss probably over a year or so after it's release. was told they were gonna do a cellar sale at some point.

I don't understand how anyone could think this is a great beer.
And they're willing to shell out another $16 for 4 more.

To each his own, but that just blows my mind.

2013 Wet is a good but not great fresh hop beer. But at this price point and with the great prior versions, a disappointment.

I traded 3 packs of Wet for 4bcbs, 4 kbs, and 10 ZD, I'm feeling pretty good about that.

Any word on how much of Darkness was brewed?

Anybody can trick me like that any day. The barrel-aged IPA that disproves the rule in my book!

I sent one off in a trade Monday, before I tried it.
I pulled my second offer off the table.

Just not worth it to post sub-par beer.

I have an extra pack , possibly 2, if someone wants them BM me.

Its not as good as previous years, but its still one of the best fresh hop beers around. Its a 8.75/10 this year instead of 11/10 in years past IMO. The hop profile is just different. Dont expect a simcoe/citra IPA. Its not going to have the over the top citrus with this hop combo no matter what you do... So is this the best Wet ever? No. Still worth drinking? Most definitely.

I've not yet consumed any (on an 11-day "cleanse" - don't ask), but I think this post most effectively and objectively sums up what I'm reading in this thread. The only thing I would add is "Still worth $16? Up to you."

Quite frankly, I enjoy it. Different? Yes. Still great. I'd love to find another quad or two. Soooooo, keep posting where you see it!

I saw some yesterday at MGM Bloomington. $17.99. Shook my head and walked out the door.

I have never understood people complaining about price. the difference between 16 and 18 is 2$. Is that going to break the bank? If so, quit drinking craft beer.

Get a high-quality beer in a bar or a ballpark, and expect to pay 4, 5, 6, 7 bucks a pint. If i can get a top-5 wet-hop, top-200 current beer for less than 5$ a glass, im happy with it. Not only that, but they are 16's.

I think what gets people more than the actual price is that there may be a store just down the street selling the same beer for $15 as opposed to $18. The $3 isn't gonna bankrupt most craft beer drinkers, but knowing you can get it for 20% less around the corner may cause some to shop elsewhere.
