Snagged a four pack yesterday. Poured it cold and started there. Loved it. Drank slowly and let it warm. Loved it. Not sure how so many of you didn't like it cold. Sure it's heavy on the bourbon, but that's what makes it so good. I think it just surpassed Boulevard's BBQ as my favorite bourbon barrel brew.

Not hating on CW but it is not in the same league as Backwoods or Wulver. More like an entry level BA Scotch Ale.

Sorry you feel that way. But for me, it never hurts to be generous and throw some as freebies in trades.

    LOL WHAT

I've had many a scotch ales...I've had both BB and CW BA Scotch ale.....to me the CW tasted better; albeit not by much but still.

Except for their anniversary beers, I find all CW BA offerings to be at the lower end. The prices are awesome. Always include them in my blind tastings and every single time they are either the lowest or second lowest out of the 8-10 beers we sample.

I can tell you from experience, this DOES mellow out quite a bit over the course of a year. Still have 7 bottles of 2013 and it is considerably more mellowed out than when I drank it fresh. I think it depends on how you like it....fresh vs. cellared. Just bought a case of 2014 and I'm going to try one fresh and then go from there. Happy drinking!

bought a vintage '13 four pack a few weeks ago and just picked up a fresh '14 four pack.

I thought the '13 was really good.
I think it is amazing fresh.

Last year cracked it open thinking it was just another beer and hated it because it was "too boozy..."

A year later and I am so happy I tried again because I figured my palette has matured. What a great beer. Appreciation for BBA has grown immensely.

Had one of these last night. Warmed me right up on a cold night. Had it at about room temp and I didn't think it was too boozy.

I have no idea how much I spent on the 4 pack I picked up on Friday. I'm guessing $15.99, since I think that's where it was priced last year. I didn't look, I didn't ask.

    I then did a side-by-side with 2014 and 2013:

Now I can't remember my phone number. But it was worth it.

(For the record: I slightly preferred the fresh version, but it was extremely close. 2014 was definitely a lot hotter than 2013, but it also had a slightly more pronounced sweetness and fruitiness. I'm thinking 6 months of age is right at about the sweet spot.)

It seems to be neither good nor bad- pretty much right where you'd expect it to be. I paid $14.99 a four-pack, so that would work out to a $90 case.

Just had some yesterday. Tastes good with chocolate. See my review. Had some reservations as I'm still getting acclimated to this style. (Scotch Ale)

Picked up a 4 pack. put two in the fridge probably going to crack one tonight for some football. Does anyone recommend me holding on to one for aging purposes?
