Anyone know what type of barrels were used to age the 2014 Backwoods Bastard? To me, the barrel presence seems MUCH more forward in fresh Backwoods this year than the past couple of years. Was wondering if it had to do with the barrels used?

I have had a few Stone Enjoy-by's bought here in Nashville at Craft Brewed. The last two releases did not make it here

I stand corrected. Appearantly it's not my state but rather the distributors in my area. Does Nashville get Stone beers on draft? Thought I heard a rumor that you did but east TN definitely doesn't, due to the fact that bounty bev hasn't had any coolers in their warehouse here.

And $16.05 is still higher than most of the 4pk prices listed here which could be explained by TN's alcohol tax but then where's the other $5 going? The distro's pocket? When I found Founders Harvest ale here and was shocked by the $20.76 plus tax sticker price, the retailer seemed offended that i was shocked by the price, as if I was implying he was screwing me over. I knew it wasn't his fault because he regularly has some of the best prices in town but he promptly replied that he had to charge that much to make anything off the beer at all and that the Distro had said he should feel lucky to have gotten it in the first place.

For those upset about $14.99 to try and make you feel better I'd like to tell that in Northwest DC by the MD border it's $23.99 a four pack. You're welcome

Yes we do get some Stone on tap and even had the Bastard Box available last week. I do know that Eastern TN and South TN has different beers than we do around here.

The Bastard has hit Katy, TX in case anyone is in the area. Picked up two 4 packs $12.99/each. They also had Prairie Brimstone Bomb! Limit one a piece and only 2 left.

Paid $15.99 for a 4-pack in NE Ohio yesterday. Any more than that and I probably would have balked. I'm glad it wasn't and I'm glad I didn't. First time trying it, and no disappointment whatsoever.

Wow, I guess that makes me feel better? I'd expect everything in DC to be more expensive than here in my neck of the woods but it still seems odd for the price here to be the 2nd highest in the country and higher than Nashville by $4. It costs me $40 for two 4pks and there are people on this thread paying a buck less for THREE 4pks. Sorry if I'm a little fired up about this but...

Really was hoping to see that bastard box around here since we do get Stone bottles but no luck as of yet.

This beer has one of the widest variances of sticker price that I can recall. Last year I saw it between 11.99 - 14.99 around me. This year it's 14.99 and 15.99 but i see everything from 10.99 to 23.99 in this forum???

Wish I could find it for that price here.
Total wine had it for $12.99, I picked up a couple and went back a few days later they were sold out. Ended up finding more but paid $14.99.:slight_frown:

2 of them on the East side or Orange Co are very convenient for me on the way home vs going all the way to TWine... I'm sure there are others but these I can hit up easily to check... ABC has really stepped up there game on craft beer lately...

ABC at Curry Ford rd and Alafaya and the one at SR 50 and Avalon Pkw.. Hit or miss which one has new releases first but I found BB and Founders Harvest ale at both a day apart.. The South Alafaya/Curry ford one has a manager that limits stuff but the East SR 50 one seems to let you take as many as you feel comfortable with @ $12.99 They even have signs up for BCBS etc coming soon.

Shhh don't tell anyone my spots

My understanding is that they use barrels from many different distilleries. I agree this year's is very barrel-forward. BB and KBS seem to go in cycles, where one year is very barrel-forward and then the next year the barrel isn't nearly as noticeable. My guess is that they recycle their barrels, and some years they have more fresh ones in their inventory than in other years.
