Personaly I think Wulver blows BB away. I love BB and a huge fan of Founders but if you get a chance to do a side by side with Wulvers , I think you would agree that Wulvers is without question the best of the two.

Had my first and only bottle this weekend. I really enjoyed it for about the first half (vanilla flavor seemed a bit strong), but the second half was sticky and overly sweet. It was definitely room temp by the time I finished it (stored in my basement, probably in the high 50's), but normally I like big beers at room temp. I also sipped it over at least an hour. Is this normal? Do people tend to drink this beer faster than that? Not sure that this is a beer that I want to put down in 20ish minutes.

I have found 6 months to be an inflection point where it smooths out. Drank a '13 last night.... perfection.

I have also compared Wulver to BB side by side and BB with 8 months wins easily - no disrespect to Wulver, which is definitely a top tier BA scotch ale. Fairness in conversation: I do not know how some time effects Wulver, better or worse.

I haven't had the chance to try Wulver yet but has anyone tried the new Victory Earth and Flame? I actually think it's right up there with BB and enjoyed it more than this year's backwoods.

Myself and two friends drank these side by side recently. Wulver was a HUGE disappointment for all of us. The better BA beers IMO are when the barrel is flawlessly integrated into the beer itself. Wulver tasted like the bourbon was added in later. I don't think I've had any beer aged that long that tasted like that.

Wife and I did a side by side of 2013 BB and Wulver. Wulver was much sweeter than BB. Given preference I would drink BB.

I drank a '13 and a '14 side by side and both me and the wife preferred the fresh stuff at multiple temperature.

The problem with Wulver is that there have been 3 releases, to my knowledge, and there is no way to know which one you are buying. The first release was flawless and is where the hype started but the last two have been what you described as saying the bourbon tasted like it was added later. Bad barrel blending I would imagine.
