Didn't see anything posted about Shipwreck porter coming out this year but I saw bottles in Toledo and Ann Arbor yesterday. I normally would have just assumed they were last years as they seem to hang out for a long time due to being about 7 bucks a bottle but these new bottles had foil over the caps instead of wax. Gotta be 2014 right? Didn't see anything on Arcadia's website either.

I noticed the same foil-topped bottles at my local store, and I'm in Battle Creek; however, there are no bottles available at the brewery. I can see a number of barrels in the production area that are probably the 2014 Shipwreck Porter, so maybe Arcadia is slowly bottling and releasing it. They released it in kegs at a brewery party in September, so there definitely is a 2014 version of this beer.

Seems weird with all the hype around barrel aged everything that its just quietly showing up. Really a great porter but its just so damn expensive.

I thought the same until I heard Bourbon County is going up to $26.99 at Binny's which realistically means I'll only find it for $30+ a 4 pack at smaller stores in Chicago.
Shipwreck is $7.99 per bottle ($31.96 pre-tax 4 pack, if you will) but I could buy them individually and got two this week.

I have a huge aversion to bombers that are $15 (or more) because they're a "one and done" situation with popping the cap. But I'd buy that same fluid for $15 in two 12oz's so I can stagger the drinking experience.

Never looked at it that way. If they put out Shipwreck in a fancy bomber with a cork in it I'd probably pay $15 and not think anything of it.

Its out here in SE Michigan. $7.99 a bottle. It was good but not that good. Sat around at Holiday last year for awhile.

You have to like bourbon bombs to really enjoy this beer, and I do. I haven't had the 2014 version yet to know if it's like prior years, but I'm going to assume that it is.

Totally. Usually when a barrel aged beer is described as "hot" here on BA I would describe it as delicious.
But I love the shit right outta Whiskey.

Yes they released bottles at the brewery along with 2013 vintage bottles. Not sure if they released less this year or the demand was higher but they said it only lasted a few days when I went. Its released on national talk like a pirate day haha which I think was in late September.

Correct, I was at the Kzoo Arcadia the day that it was released & picked some up. None of the bottles were foil topped, they were the same red wax top that I've seen in previous years. In fact I didn't see anything on the bottle that would indicate that they were the 2014 release as opposed to the 2013 version

Ahh. Thanks. Didn't realize they made so much of it.

I do recall seeing it at Brass Mug in the Spring when they released their BBPt5 as well but that is somewhat common there from what I undedatand. They also had quite a bit of cereal killer as well.

Yeah, I always try to gather as much BA beer before Christmas so people shopping for all of you can have an easier time

Okay, hyped it up enough for myself to have to buy at least two or three next time I see it.
