Didn't see a Chicagoland thread for news outside of Vav's thread for the Binny's LP release. Figure this thread can be used for all other releases (other Binny's, etc) in Chicagoland.

Will start it off with details on the Beer Temple release as per the FB....

Once again The Beer Temple will be partaking in the Goose Island Beer Co. Bourbon County festivities on Black Friday.

Due to changes in our allocation, we will only be selling Bourbon County on Friday, November 28th, and Sunday, November 30th.

***PLEASE READ BELOW FOR IMPORTANT DETAILS***

    11/28/2014:
The bulk of our BCS will go on sale Black Friday at 11:00AM. Allocations will be determined the day of the event, but will include the following:

    2014 Bourbon County
    2013 Bourbon County
    2010 Bourbon County
    2009 Bourbon County
    2014 BCS Coffee
    2013 BCS Coffee
    2010 BCS Coffee
    2014 BCS Vanilla Rye
    2010 BCS Vanilla
    2013 BCS Backyard Rye
    2014 BCS Proprietor's
    2014 BCS Barleywine
    2013 BCS Barleywine

    11/30/2014:
As has become our tradition, to help those Chicagoans who may have traveled for the holiday, we will have a SMALL amount of BCS available beginning at noon on Sunday, November 30th. There won't be much - we're sorry. To make up for it, we will have some other fun stuff out on the shelves and a few cool bottles open to taste, including, but not limited to, Goose Island BCS Rare.

Please understand that we are a small shop, and will try our best with what we have. We don't want anyone to leave empty handed, but can't promise that won't happen to some people. With that in mind...

We will not be able to hold aside bottles for anyone. No exceptions.

We will not be putting any BCS online or shipping it in the foreseeable future.

Thanks in advance for all your understanding,

    -The Beer Temple

I was really impressed when I saw this on Twitter yesterday; if I wasn't already going to LP Binny's, I'd certainly be heading to the Beer Temple, because this looks like a hell of a release. 4 years of BCBS? '10 Vanilla? A tasting of Rare? Awesome. Chris really kills these releases.

as much as chris rules and i want to patronize the store...i cannot even imagine how bad that line is going to be.

Probably awful.... and yet, nowhere near as long as Binny's line.

Probably not, but I went to the Sunday sale last year, and even that one was relatively long, so I'd imagine that given how good this event sounds + later starting time (11 am vs. 9 am for Binny's) + great word of mouth for the Beer Temple = HUGE line on Friday.

I'm going to make this very clear. We are not getting even 10% of what LP Binny's is (from the looks of it - I don't have any numbers for them). We have significantly less than last year, and will most likely have really small limits. I wish I could give everyone 1 of each, but it ain't gonna happen. If you want to do your BCS purchases at The Beer Temple, I thank you. It's really cool for you to choose to do so. But please realize it's a matter of economics. If every Binny's sells a case of GI sixers each week, I need to sell 120 sixers just to keep pace. If every Walgreens sells 2 sixers a week, I would have to sell 200 CASES to keep pace.

That said, I hope we have a fun time, and ideally make some people happy this weekend. Cheers everyone, have a great Thanksgiving!

I can't speak for everybody, but I think it's really cool what you do each year; I've mentioned more than once that I really appreciate that you keep some BCS for people on Sunday, because I think it's a great gesture. I don't think anyone is under any sort of illusion that you're going to have the same type of stock as Binny's; hell, most Binny's stores don't have close to as much to sell as the biggest ones (LP in particular). You do what you do, and you do it well, so don't stress it! Looks like you're gonna have a great event.

Whole Foods in Lincoln Park will be hosting their BCBS event again this year on Friday Dec 5th. Details TBA. I went to this last year and it was a stellar event. I hope to attend again this year.

One can buy Bourbon County in Rockland ME (the town next to my hometown) right this moment but not in Chicago.

In regards to Bourbon County by Goose Island this year.

    1. We will NOT be doing any kind of list.
    2. It will be available on black Friday, we open at 9am. Unless an update is posted here on our Facebook.

Limit: 2 bottles per customer, and 1 bottle of each 22 oz variance.

I will be in Chicago for the first time ever next week Weds-Friday... A full week after the release I'm sure chances of scoring any bottles are slim to none.... My question is, in Chicagoland does this stuff stay around for a few weeks on tap anywhere? Would love to be able to find a few places that may have variants on tap to give a try.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated- even if its just best pizza spot lol!
