Based on the way prices shot up from 2013 to 2014, I definitely would not be surprised at the prices you're guessing. Not one bit.

For me personally, it just depends on how easy/hard it is to get the bottles. I don't mind paying a bit more if moving to these 16.9oz bottles makes it slightly easier to get my hands on some. I went to LP Binny's black friday event and i'm glad I went once, but it was just legit not fun standing in the cold for hours for 2 bombers and a 4 pack. Not blaming Binny's for it at all, it's just the demand is out of control. Of course, these all might still be just as impossible to find as last year, just my two cents.

I've read that the regular BCBS will be $9.99, but was told from a GI employee the retail will be $12.99, and those are just suggested. Every mom and pop, all large liquor retailer know people will pay a lot more than retail. I seriously expect 50-100% increase from MSRP at most locations. That's just for regular BCBS, and probably limited to just a bottle or two.

GI is making decisions that will make them more money, but knowingly fuck their hard core customers.

The fact that Goose is aware of making these the same cost per ounce tells me people aren't going to be getting screwed out of beer at a higher cost. There will always be retailers that try to make an extra buck but that's been happening for years with these releases. That article is hours old, maybe we just wait and see how it all plays out before declaring that the sky is falling?

For a series of beer that needs no hype whatsoever to sell through immediately in most locations, all this build-up FOUR MONTHS in advance certainly doesn't help matters when it comes to retailers determining pricing above MSRP.

FWIW, it's 30+ years on the barrels for Rare..

"It is rare for Bourbon to age in barrels for more than twenty-three years. But these barrels patiently sat for over thirty years. The extra years developed a distinct and complex character that makes them truly one-of-a kind."
