Have to agree. Let's be honest, the people he is helping are people that will be driving all over the greater Chicagoland scooping up all the BCBS they can, not the locals who were counting on their small local store. He appeals to and for the most part is only helping the truck chasers not anyone who frequents these stores.

 

Well said! Hoarders always find ways to hoard and chasers always seem to find a truck to chase. Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated.

 

Yeah, like hoarders and truck chasers only became such and got their plans down after seeing this thread.

Thanks @Jaycase, has helped me consider other options in lieu of hating myself and everyone around me at Binny's.

 

i remember when i first joined the board and event/release info used to get posted all the time. then events got crowded, and very quickly it was realized that people who had never contributed to or posted on this board were eyeing this forum and using their info to truck chase and hoard and all the worst things about chicago beer. then event info dried up, and all we got was after-action reviews, so even the contributors started getting shut out.

i'm torn. i'm all about helping people out, but the problem with helping people out in a public forum like this encourages hangers on to benefit rather than those we intend to actually help and in some cases can disproportionately affect patrons of smaller local stores who don't get binny's level allotments. just some thoughts.

 

I also remember a day where these posts/threads were never made and places still sold out. I remember people saying that Goose Island was dead after the buy out. I remember when people were advocates for beer and helped people score some beer rather than trying to keep their "local place" a secret so that they can get whatever they want.

Your posts vs. twitter/Facebook/websites/posters/displays/etc... Of these places don't make a bit of difference.

 

Anyone know of any midnight releases? The few I knew of last year - foodsmart, capones aren't on this year.

I was also trying to find midnight release. I was at Capones a couple of days ago and they said they definitely aren't doing it this year but they are getting some BCS. Does anyone here know of a midnight release?

 

I had heard of a single place open at midnight selling BCBS as soon as midnight hits but they only had 5 4 packs of regular BCBS. Dont think its happening this year

I think the thread you created here is very cool. You clearly put a lot of time into it. You are truly an advocate of beer. I wish more people on this site were as passionate as you.

I'm guessing the naysayers (cfrances33, Dontcounttoday, and any others) don't really care about the "people that aren't on BA". They are just annoyed because you've posted something about their secret little local store.

You mentioned my local place, but I'm okay with that.
