There were signs at Vas saying they won't be selling any today.

 

I was at Binny's Bolingbrook by 7:05. Was told nothing and didn't see a single staff member until I walked in. Was informed there was nothing but the regular about 30 people ahead of me. I got my four pack of regular and about six people later they were all sold out which meant the 60 or so people who had been there since 7:40 or later got NADA. Horribly run. The staff didn't even seem apologetic about it.

Swung over to Binny's Naperville and picked up another four bottles of regular. Swung across the street to Extra Value Food and Liquor for another four pack. I'm all good for BCBS, so if anyone's looking about in Naperville, I'm pretty sure EVFaL was still decently stocked.

 

Got to Berkots in Manhattan at 6:30 and there was already a line. Only got 1 pack of regular. Trying to hit other places but all sold out. Cardinal in Joliet was charging $43 for a bomber or 4 pack, limit 1 item total. Everywhere else I havve heard is charging $28. Hopefully I can find something as it comes out next week.

 

At EP around 6:50a, about #18 in line. Allotment as noted above- 4pk regular, 2 BW or 1 Coffee, Prop or Vanilla. Got my allotment and headed over to Kenwood (Oak Lawn). They got regular and prop. Some confusion/apathy about allotments. I was told either a 4pk of reg or 1 prop, but I definitely saw some people get both. I went with the regular, and I'm done hunting for the day.

 

Just triedta swing through the Walgreens at Clark & Diversey and theres a line snaking all through the place so I left. They havent started selling yet, fyi.

Yall needta get a fucking grip.

Ten or so cases of regular sitting on the floor at Jewel Osco in North Center (Lincoln and Montrose). Price is $25.99

Asked one of the clerks at Mariano's in Ravenwood and they weren't 100% sure if they were getting any, but it would be Monday at the earliest.

Another leisurely Black Friday at Artalé Wine Co. in Rockford: nice staff, reasonable limits and no price gouging. I'd guess that everybody in line by 8AM got the full allocation or 4x regular, 1x Vanilla, 1x Coffee and 1x Barleywine.

 

I can easily see many (if not most stores) hating these releases. I know the store I used to work at didn't exactly look forward to dealing with the inevitable mass of beer geek lunacy (even if ours was usually calm and straightforward). Gotta love that "Must be first! Must get this now!" Black Friday mentality...

I was at Berkots in New Lenox at 430am and there were a few people already in line. Cardinal was gouging the shit out of prices, the guy at the counter was apologetic about it, he's not the owner that set the price point. A few people walked out after waiting in line when they found out how much they were charging.

 

Jewel in Palatine had a ton of the original with no purchase limits and at face. I lucked out after missing the rush at Binnys Arlington Heights. Other places nearby are getting their share in a week.

Carpentersville Woodman's is nearly out of Original. Had very few Barley left about 45 minutes ago.

 

6 stores, 10 bottles of regular (2 bottles at one place, 1 four pack at 2 places, nothing at 3 places). The 13.8% version. Was really hoping like hell to get barleywine, no dice.

Ten bottles of regular will easily last me two or three years; I am still drinking down my lone fourpack of 2012. What this means for Goose is I won't buy any stout at all for the next two or even three years, and if I don't find barleywine in that time frame I won't buy any Bourbon County period. I don't understand why BCBB is so much more limited than regular or coffee. Since they recycle the barrels, it ought to be cheaper than and nearly as plentiful as the regular. Only hypothetical reason it couldn't be is space constraints.
