2014 Canadian Brewing Awards

I would expect some of the big names didn't submit.

 

Which big names didn't? I started to wonder myself, then I see a beer fetch a bronze.
Overall, I think the judges are out to lunch on some of the selections. Feeling that, I can't trust ANYTHING they choose subsequently.

And all the Lager sub-categories. Sheesh. Put me to sleep please.

 

I only glanced, but I didn't see Driftwood, DDC, 3M, Bellwoods...

 

Bellwoods won two. Both bronzes. I like Grizzly, not a fan of the other.
And they make lots of other way better beers.
I really want to see a list of what beers were submitted for each category.

 

Also, on the "Participating Breweries" page they do list Driftwood, DDC and 3M.

 

Considering there was what only 130 breweries? submitting that means there's a lot of beer not being judged. 80+ breweries in BC alone now. I'm shocked BC swept the stout category and Ontario the IPA category...

 

Guess I didn't read far enough, but just skimmed the awards. I wonder what they submitted then

 

The DIPA category medalists really leaves me scratching my head.

 

If that's the case how did gold medal winning Dunham not make the participating breweries list?

 

Very weird. I don't buy these results. Same for last year when Powell Street won. Great little brewery but not their best in Vancouver let alone Canada.

 

Shipping beer to arrive a month before the competition isn't ideal for some beers/breweries.

 

You are asking me like I have any idea. I'm merely passing along info posted on their website in an answer to another fella's question.

List shows that I was wrong above when I guessed that many breweries didn't submit. Still very much puzzled by results.

Looking at what was entered.... yeah.... very little credibility in these awards.

 

Isn't this the same outfit that rated Carling the best pale lager in the country a few years ago?

Hold on, I've got a trailer full of salt I need to unload before I'm ready to read this.

 

There really needs to be a limit on how many entries you can have. Amsterdam submitted 24 entries...
