I don't really know what's to complain about. I got there about 5:45 waited patiently until about 6:07 for my pour and then left. From what I could tell, they weren't letting anyone order a second time. I mean what else did you guys expect? To instantly have it in your hand the second you showed up?

Glad I was able to try this a few years back before it was bottled at tavern on liberty in Allentown pa. Was sold as part of a flight but it was all amazing beers. They had a second flight with kbs being the anchor. You were even able to get a second flight. And then around 10 when it was clear everyone that was gonna be there was already there and got their flight, the owner started allowing full pours. Needless to say that night resulted in sleeping in my car for 2 hours in some random fast food parking lot then puking after walking up like 500 stairs to use my friend's bathroom. I blame the awful PA pizza. My body kept the beer in. Was delicious and glad I was able to experience it. That being said I'm enjoying the amazing allagash event at blind tiger tonight instead.

Wow, how the beer scene has eroded! I am constantly reminded why I got out off the scene the last few years. Like I would wait in a shitty bar amongst crazy people for maybe an 8oz. pour of CBS, no thanks! I will pass as well.

I arrived at 5:40 ordered a Big Luscious, which was surprisingly very good, but like drinking a chocolate raspberry cake. I was lucky enough to get the first pour of CBS at 6, it was $12 for 8 oz and was pretty good, but certainly nothing mindblowing. I was guesstimate that there were about 40-50 people there for CBS, certainly much less than a madhouse than I was expecting.

So a buddy of mine sent me a text kind of last minute. His bar wasn't allocated a keg, so he asked if I was up for a round. Got there around 5:30 on the 2nd floor and while the seats physically at the bar were taken, there was plenty of space to relax. Eventually 2 seats opened up and Bill (forgot his BA name) graciously offered me one, but had to decline since my group ended up being 4 strong.

I perched at a table by the SKI reps and Founders team by pure chance. Tim from Founders was really chill, had a great conversation about the minority share sale and his highlights for 2015 (re-release of Blushing Monk). Started out with a glass of Nitro Oatmeal Stout and was graciously offered a wine glass of CBS.

This one lives up to the hype. Beautiful finger of tan head on a rich, shimmering russet brown base. Cocoa and dark chocolate truffles leapt from the glass, but not powdery or chalky. Perfectly caramelized sugar came through as well which complemented the malt instead of bringing it out of balance. After a few sips and some warming, you can tell by the smell of the residue from the glass that a fine, well crafted and rich syrup left its mark. French vanilla came through as well. The alcohol was masked and only came through as the glass came down to room temperature.

This was a true experience. In every sense of the word. It was so simple, but had so many perfectly paired flavors. I shit you not, I was transported.

I don't normally go on and on about a beer (you can see my style of tasting notes in other posts), but this deserved it. I stayed neck beard free and quite comfortable the entire time. The keg kicked after about an hour, but it looked like everyone had at least one glass of this masterpiece of a beer. Sorry @cavedave, had to take that descriptor from you.

Shockingly smooth event which left me in an amazing mood. Would I go back? Probably not, because I know the bridge and tunnel crowd all too well. But this event....this was as low-key as it comes.

Keg lasted 45 minutes. Enough for two pours for almost everyone that was there. Don't understand all of the complaining, but such is forum life.

I was gonna go today but after all the hearsay from people on this board about the bar and event I decided not to take the hour train ride in at 313. I have to say I will not be making decisions off board members perceptions anymore. If you dont like the bar, keep it to yourself instead of trying to push it on other people.

I hope everyone who went had a good time.

I still stand by my statement that this isn't a great scene 98% of the time. And my experience tonight wasn't typical. I was lucky enough to get swept up by the brewery's table so we had a friendly, but visibly stressed waitress taking care of us the whole night. I overheard how other groups were being served, so everyone's assessment earlier was pretty accurate. Most of the staff members aren't knowledgeable and the bartenders were heads-down the whole time.

With all that said, this won't be the only opportunity to taste the beer. Don't hate others for their opinions...because they're just that - opinions. I learned long ago that my tastes and experiences have little in common with most of those on the boards. And yet, I still agree that this isn't a place I'd recommend going to.

The internet didn't tell me anything (it is not an entity despite what you may think), it was the people who frequent this site that led me to believe this would be a total shit show.

It's usually bad, tonight was fine. I think I'm still just shellshocked from the Prop tapping at Top Hops earlier this year...

    1. Beer authority is pretty shit
    2. Pre-announced CBS tappings in NYC tend to be shitshows

People on BA cited one or both as reasons why they would not attend. They were not promising you an accurate prediction of the future.

If you wanted CBS that badly you should have gone. Nobody else's fault but yours that you missed out. You can't come on here telling people not to express their opinions in future. That's ridiculous.

Everyone (myself included) thought the BCBS release at One Mile House would be a zoo. But because I wanted to try the beers enough, I went. And it was chill. C'est la vie. More beer will be available in the future.

Obviously you didn't read my first post. I never said that members "told me" what to expect or "how to act". I said PERCEPTION. Do you know what that word means? Obviously I know that I have my own right to act as I want, and can't expect other people to tell me what to do. BUT, as someone who doesn't live in the immediate vicinity, I rely on the people of this site that have years of experience to provide an accurate PERCEPTION of what to expect. All I was saying is that if you don't like the bar, then don't respond in a thread that involves the bar and try to persuade people that the event will be a shit show.

As reference, here is my original post:

"I have to say I will not be making decisions off board members perceptions anymore. If you dont like the bar, keep it to yourself instead of trying to push it on other people."

I bet 60% of those talking shit on the bar did so to downplay the event and showed up themselves
