Here are the details. They likely made a lot more this year as bottle limits increased +2 over last year. And it's 1 cent cheaper this year as well

In 2009, we decided to round out the year by brewing an Imperial Stout laced with coffee. Our friends at Dark Matter brewed up the black intensity and we've been repeating the task annually ever since.

Big Hugs is a dim kitten with aimless love in his heart and a ferocious will to live. Over the years he's faced dinosaurs, rainbows, winter wonderland, a robotic plagiarism of himself, and more - but none a foe as elusive and mysterious as death itself. This story has the ultimate force taking the living and laying them down. Big Hugs has grappled with natural order and twisted the pillars of existence. While you hang in the balance, steal time to sit steady and spill this black rumble into your center. Big Hugs Imperial Stout is liquid char scraped from the bowels of eternity, soaked with the free spirit of an adolescent feline. Heed him and rejoice.

You can buy this year's batch of Big Hugs at our brewery on Lincoln - Sunday, December 14th from 11am-7pm. There will be a line for both cash and credit, as well as friends on hand slinging coffee and food products. The Tap Room will be full of reasons to stay a while, and we sure hope you do.

    DETAILS:
    • 10% ABV
    • 22 ounce bottle $10.98 (limit 8 per person per day)
    • 32 ounce howler refill $10.98 (limit 2 per person per day)
    • 64 ounce growler refill $20.14 (limit 1 per person per day)
    • 16 ounce draft pour $7

Yeah, love Phineas' work on the BH label (and all his HA artwork really). I prefer the action shot labels of BH recent vintages (especially the last 3 years) over the new one though.

So I've got the 2012 Big Hugs label poster framed and hanging in my kitchen and want a 2013 one to compliment it. Any chance someone has a spare?

I'm looking for two bottles. If someone wants to set up a trade, PM me. TG hasn't made any deliveries to Des Moines lately, but I'm sure I could round up some fun stuff. Cheers.

Probably a stupid question, but with this bottle limit, theres no need to line up early is there? If I show up around opening time I should be able to walk out with my bottles in a reasonable amount of time?

Thank you - I was wondering the same thing. On paper your logic is sound, but I'm afraid the reality will be much less convenient, what with people's ridiculous affinity these days to stand in lines for every little thing, no matter how unnecessary.

If anyone ever comes up with a barrel-aged gourmet sausage on a cronut bun and gets it featured in Thrillist and a "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" segment, the resulting line would stretch from Logan Square (because where else would something like that be sold) all the way to Brooklyn.

If anyone is going and doesn't mind parting with 1-2 bottles, feel free to message me. I could and mewt people for trades on the WI/IL border. We can see if I have something you'd be interested in as I've never tried this beer and unfortunately can't be there Sunday.

No reason at all to line up early for this. Now, will there be idiots doing so, Yes (probably quite a bit of them as there's always a line wrapped around the block when they first open). These bottles, if I'm not mistaken, lasted all day last year and maybe even a day or 2 later (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). If I were you I wouldn't even show up at open, that's when the line will be longest. If you can fit it in your schedule I would go sometime in the afternoon.

Last year, I happened to be at Eataly down in River North having lunch with my wife right before New Years (I remember because it was during that short window when we were both off work, but the kids' school was open, a.k.a. the most glorious 2-3 days of the year :stuck_out_tongue: ), and saw a stack of Big Hugs bombers sitting next to the Birreria entrance. Sure, they were $15 apiece, but I figured paying a $5/bottle "screw it, I'm already here, now I don't have to make an extra trip to North Center" surcharge wasn't so bad, so I grabbed two. And ordered a nice Teku of it from the bar for immediate sipping.

The only reason to go early is if you were interested in trying some of their special tappings that day and wanted a seat in the tap room

I showed up at opening last year and waited for like an hour in the cold. Totally stupid. It was available for days

Last year bottles lasted over a week. I believe bottles made it to distribution also. I can't imagine why people would line up early.
