I'm used to getting stuff a month or so after botteling but I just now got a case of Narwhal and could not believe my eyes when I saw a packed on date of 7/31/14. Anyone know why SN produced this so far ahead of its release?

    Nothing unusual about this...

Could be bottle conditioned or maybe they want to release it with a little age on it.

It's a little odd that it's just hitting east coast shelves but time can only help this beer, IMO. That's not a dig but I think a little extra time in bottle will smooth things out a bit.

I tend to think some folks on BA have a massive sense of entitlement when it comes to the freshness of beer. I get that no one wants to drink 11 month old pale ale, but people on here have gone overboard with the complaining about how seasonal X on the shelf was bottled a whopping 3 weeks ago. An imperial stout is going to taste just fine ~3 months after bottling.

I'm too drunk for sarcasm. What a ridiculous question.

It got here over a month ago. Your distributor messed up, not SN.

That beer is fine with a little age on it to start with. I was thrilled to find this almost a year old & wished there was more...

they bottle condition so carbonation takes awhile after bottling.

What's the problem? Probably distributor was late getting them.

It's not like it's an IPA. What does it matter?

I noticed that as well so I decided to finish the whole four pack so another would not have to suffer the horrible taste of a three month old imperial stout.

Narwhal isn't bottle-conditioned. This one was just packed early to get it into markets quicker. Can't explain the extreme delay the OP is seeing in the release.

Always blame the distributor. Unless your liquor store is a bunch of '***** like where I live.
