Yeah, I was a little taken aback by the price, too, until our Beer Specialist told me they were 16 ouncers.
Davidsons will not have any variants, as apparently they are not being distributed "south of Denver".
    Boo, hiss, etc.
We'll still have a good time with the release, though, as always. We'll be running a tasting of Matilda, Sofie, Lolita, and IPA, too.

What is it like at Argonaut, is it a relatively quick affair or will I be waiting in line for over an hour? Does anyone know what Lukas will have if anything? thanks

Mollys Spirits is giving it away to their beer club members via email, first come first serve. Basically they will send out an email and the first people to reply get a bottle reserved for up to a week to pick up. You can sign up on their website:

    "What:
Molly's will be receiving limited quantities of all Bourbon County variants (except Proprietors which is reserved for the Chicagoland area) Meaning, Original, Coffee, Barleywine, Regal Rye, and Rare.

    When:
As tradition, our release will be on Friday, November 27th (Black Friday)

    Where:
Molly's Spirits of course! We at Molly's don't believe in having to wait in line, alter your sleep schedule, cancel travel plans, bribe our staff, or anything else that has to do with rare releases. We want you to actually be able to enjoy what you are seeking not NEED what you are seeking. So we will be releasing BCBS but in some fun and different ways, listed below, which will allow anyone to participate not just those that are present on Black Friday.

    How:
There will be multiple email releases during the day that will be first come, first serve. These will be at varying times during Black Friday to ensure that anyone on any sleep schedule can have a chance at one or all of the variants. The order is tracked via time stamp on emails, and bottles will be held until Thursday, December 3rd for payment and pickup. We will also be reserving 6 complete sets (2 - original, and 1 each of the others) to offer via lottery. Lottery entries will be determined via loyalty reward points explained further below. Also, single bottles will be appearing on our shelves randomly throughout the day. If you find one on a shelf it's yours to purchase. We will also have some fun in store promotions over the following week (which just happens to be our 1st Anniversary week!)

I misspoke. Not "given away", but given a chance to purchase without having to wait in any sort of line.

Nice! I'm one of the chumps that has to work all day, but I do get an opportunity now and then to hit my email. This'll actually give me somewhat of a chance.

Not to drag the thread into price discussions, but doing my best to be objective, the price hike really isn't all that bad and could be considered overdue considering the market.
I'm not a fan of BC going to the 16.9oz format. Quite frankly 12oz at a time is usually enough.

But just looking at price structures:
Previous pricing: Roughly $5 for 12oz = $.42/oz. This varied widely of course, but $5 was the average I came across.
New Pricing: $10 for 16.9oz = $.59/oz. As mentioned we already pay more for every Avery releases. Though those are higher ABV, BC is no joke at over 14%, the variants are a bit less but all still up there.
So a $.17/oz hike, and it still is priced less than beers people don't take a day off from work to get.

Let's start with what many consider to be a comparable beer (and some like it more): LotLB : $13 for 16.9oz = $.77/oz, 12% ABV.
Not to mention I think the CBC #1 & 3 were $10 , really good beers, but no one was comparing them to BCBS

Think about 22oz pricing. Most think nothing of dropping $13 on a bomber, going up to $17ish for Parabola, another beer that can be argued forever about whether it's better than BC, but it's comparable.
    $17 for 22oz = $.77/oz .

Even a really good but not nearly on the same level bomber, Demise of Ivan: $13 for 22oz = $.59/oz, same as BCBS.

This has been long enough as it is so I won't go on. But really if anyone takes issue with the increased prices, take a look at your BA imperial Stout with an ABV over 12% bomber of choice, do the math, and much more often than not BC is right there or cheaper.

That being said: $60 for Rare is ridiculous.

Nice list, but 1 of even the regular BCBS makes that trek down S. Colorado on a friday that much tougher to stomach. I'm going to do it, but I'm not going to like it. Neither will my wife who I've goaded into make the rounds for me.

I've never found it for less than $5.99 which brings it up to ~$.50/oz. Not bad.

Gotta admit I do like the look of those bottles a lot. It's a nod to whiskey bottles and European ale bottles at the same time.

Grabbed a bottle of regular this morning at an out of the way place. I'm gonna be waiting at Argo to hopefully snag some rare as well come Friday. Not looking forward to it, truth be told.

Interesting math re: price discussion. I don't ever look at things on this level, probably to my detriment but whatever. Buy enough wine though and even 60 bucks for rare looks cheap. I think nothing of 100-150 bucks for a bottle of wine these days :slight_frown:
