2015 Blind IIPA tasting

Hop Stoopid is a great beer, but if it beat out Heady in your tasting then your Heady must have been old, straight up. And I'm not even a big fan of Heady as far as northeast hoppy beers go.

 

I would keep the list down. Palate fatigue could be one of your biggest determining factors of who won. I wonder if the order had anything to do with the previous years results.

 

60 minute, 90 minute, 2 hearted, Ghandi Bot, Ninja vs Unicorn, Abrasive, Furious

imo its Ca's heady topper. nothing compares but i havent had any nelson or HT

Dirt wolf for sure and in my area hop ranch showed up dayum its good.

 

Problem is many of the best rotate or are seasonal. Ju Ju is great, Bodhi is great not always available, Abrasive, so your blind testing is really the best of what you can get, not really best of the best. That would be interisting

I'd think blind Abrasive wins, but they're all great.

Kind of makes me want to do my own blind tasting of just New England beer.

 

Yeah Captain's Daughter is an amazing DIPA and so different from almost anything else on the market (albeit quite polarizing). It'd be interesting to see how it stacked up with these other offerings.

Also, I didn't notice if this was mentioned but Fair Maiden is a pretty good DIPA that has been gaining a lot of buzz in Vermont and it might be relatively easy to land a bomber.

FWIW: ive done IPA blind tastinga few times. Pretty invariably people very quickly get palate fatigue and cant tell the beers apart i find.

EDIT: i see you had Abrasive last year...

 

Yup. Furious is a needed addition.
