2015 Fantasy Hockey BIF

I have created a twelve team league on Yahoo that currently has 7 spots called for, and need up to 5 more (anticipating a few responses from last year's participants). The format is H2H, cats TBD via poll once everyone is in and draft is tentatively scheduled for 8:00 PM on Saturday September 24th. All entrants need to be able to put up 88 oz. of beer.

If GABF becomes a limiting factor in general, I can scoot it back to 19 September. I typically like drafting as near to season start as possible to get any injury silliness out there and known, but in all reality hockey preseason isn't as dangerous as football.

 

Currently a few players shy right now. I know there's time before the season starts, but I was looking to settle on whether we'd have 10 or 12 players as well as set up a few scoring category options to vote on so drafting can reflect the stat needs. If anyone knows of a hockey fan that would be into this, pass along the info. Thanks!

 

Full season - Fantasy championship wraps up last two weeks of the regular season, so looking at mid April being the early end of shipping. As for draft time, I always default to a Saturday night but was planning on getting a consensus fro a proper date and time once everyone was in. My dirty little secret is I've done a ton of autodrafts (as my schedule can be plain stupid as well, usually) after ranking my players and usually do fine. In my opinion, the real meat and potatoes are dropping and picking up players throughout the season and being able to set meaningful and consistent lineups.

 

While our draft date is still up for a good old fashioned polling, we will look to lock down the league on the 17th so we can put draft date, roster possibilities and scoring cats up for vote. We currently have ten teams and would like to add 2 more.

Oh - sorry for no updates on here! I did not get any takers for the last two spots, so I finalized with ten, which is fine, that's how many were on board last year as well and it looked like we had plenty of great beer flying.

I posted a question on the league website regarding draft date/time. Consensus went with 27th, I defaulted to 7:00 PM EST as the time. But as I mentioned before, autodraft (as long as you remove players you don't want or think may not play this year - looking at you P. Kane...) than autodraft does as good a job as 90% of players, just what I've observed after doing this for about ten years.

I posted another message on the league site as well, this time requesting that everyone check out the league settings (roster spots and scoring categories) and shout out if something really doesn't look right, good or whatever. Otherwise we'll leave it set at what it is at. Being said, I set rosters and scoring based on what I found to be most fun over all the leagues I've been in, whereas there's enough opportunity to balance out where you are weak and how to best take advantage of a moderate depth in FA's throughout the year.

Our next step after consensus on roster positions and scoring is to settle on prize distribution. I'd probably go with last year but I'd rather hear from everyone on their thoughts before I do that.

finally, if you haven't done so already, go to your team settings page and make sure you allow for emails from league posts. It's the cleanest way to get info out there about league dealings, trades, etc.,.
