If reg BCBS is $15-20 per bottle I will...

  1. Buy fewer bottles than what I really want

    62.8%
  2. Buy about 3-5 bottles and call it a day

    24.1%
  3. Buy as many bottles I can find still. Price is no object.

    13.1%

I'd equate it backwards to last years. 4 packs of regular and Barleywine were 21.99 at my store so $5.50 for 12 ounces, this year, the regular will be $8.25 for 12 ounces and $9.75 for the barleywine. Pretty huge price increase.

Well I was able to score 6 bottles of the regular, and one bottle of the regal rye. I was absolutely shocked when I saw that the standard BCBS was only $10.99 per bottle. I would have thought that they would have been way more than that. The rye I paid $24.99 for a bottle.

You'd think after being bought by a large corporation that would allow them to lower the prices a little, not raise them...

I'm sure that AB sees Bourbon County as nothing more than cash grab because they know us nerds will pay it. But $100 is too steep.

Well the lines for the release were massive this morning, so at $10 a bottle it is obviously not putting off too many people. This was the craziest I have seen, so I expect a bigger price rise next year...

In southwest Missouri the good news was you could buy regular BCBS for $9.99, but the bad news was1 bottle per person limit and 2 of the 3 places I hit required purchase of an additional Goose Island 6-pack to get any. What was available was gone quickly. Of course no variants, not even barleywine. Glad to get some, but continue to be mystified by distribution.

Just adding some regional data from Temecula, CA:

    2014 - 4 pack cost 24.99

    2015 - 500ml bottle cost 11.99

Roughly a 36% increase per ounce. Huge increase in one year, but still more affordable than other SoCal BA Stouts like BT ($1.20), Bruery adjunct stouts (1.60), FO/Dark Star ($1.18), BA Speedway ($1.20). Also better imo, but that's subjective.

Not justifying the increase but I am not aware of too many other BA stouts in that price range.

Hope you guys enjoy it. From what I read here and heard personally, I'm glad I passed. I don't mind paying a little more but the lines and having to be somewhere right at the open... no thanks. Added frustration because I can vividly remember buying as much as I wanted on shelves at a leisurely convenience when it was here first few years. Craft beer consumer growth is nothing but good? Yeah whatever.

In STL MO, I stopped at four stores between 8 AM and 9 AM, and although two of the stores that carried variants were sold out of the variants by that time (the guy just ahead of me in line at one store got the last two bottles of Barleywine), each store still had plenty of the regular BCS left to go around. The liquor manager at one store mentioned that a guy started waiting at 3 AM for the opening time of 6 AM.
Each store had a three bottle limit (including variants).
    Pricing:
    $9.99 for the regular BCS
    $11.99 for Barleywine
Between $54.99 and $59.99 for Rare
The Regal Rye evidently didn't get the go ahead from our state due to some issue with the labeling.

I've paid as little as $7.88 and as much as $13.99 for a bottle of the standard BCBS. I try to buy 5 each year if I can find them. I drink one fresh and age the others. All the places I go to will only sell one bottle.

When comparing beer prices, I don't usually use a random brewery from Denmark as my point of comparison brewery.

I made purchases in NWI - $10.99 for BCBS, $13.99-$14.99 for BCBBW, and $79.99 for Rare. A second shop told me they sold Rare for $69.99. I was either too late or didn't see any Regal Rye or Coffee.

    In AZ we had:

    BCBS - $10
    Coffee/BW - $12
    Regal - $22
    Rare -$60

As a side note, the $60 price on Rare deterred NO ONE. I was # 73 in line and it was sold out before I got in the store. Everyone around me in line was bemoaning the fact, so I'm guessing could have easily sold quite a bit more. Such is the crazy world of rare beers...

Montana has an abv cap at 14% and all the cases that arrived here in Billings were 14.3% and sent back

The OP is from Pennsylvania, where prices are regularly 40-50% higher than most other states for any beer. I went to two shops today. The regular BCBS was $15 and $14 a bottle. One was also doing 8oz pours for $7.99. Those prices are high, but actually a fair amount lower than most BA bombers here. (I know these are only 16.9 oz bottles, but still.). I was going to try the Rye Arrogant Bastard today, but it was $34. That seemed nuts.
