It was $22/sixer here last year, I don't know why shops don't just charge $25 at this point, it will still sell out in a day or so. I went a store last year, for other beers not HS, and there was a line of 20+ people waiting for the Hopslam truck. It's a very good beer but it's really not worth he hassle to get plus if I want a $22 sixer (or equivalent) there are plenty of other beers I'd rather buy.

    Encouraging price gouging??

Yes, a couple other DIPAs brewed with honey are Greenbush Brother Benjamin and the previously mentioned Pipeworks Square Grouper.

    What this guy said.

I keep reading comments about how it ain't as good as it used to be, and there are other better beers out there...

Well I had it for the first time last year, haven't seen any other comparable IPAs in my market, and wasn't around for the time it was 'better'. Sweet F*CK it must have been good if it used to be 'better' than it was when I finally got to try it last year.

EDIT: I didn't realize MisSigsFan sarcastically slipped the word 'hype' in there. Damn you all.

Bell's doesn't distribute in NJ, so always a challenge for me. But IMO this one is worth the hunt. Of all places, last year my colleague picked up a 6-pack at a Manhattan pharmacy. The Beer Finder page on the Bell's website didn't include hopslam in its drop down menus when I checked this morning even though the link on the home page announcing the release directs visitors to the Beer Finder page. Playing hard to get, perhaps...

Oh man, my Dad is in Springfield, MO this week visiting my grandmother. I wonder how much of a hassle it would be to have my Dad, who knows nothing about beer, score some for me?

Never had it. I'll definitely try it if I come across it, but I won't be going out of my way to buy it.

I'm as much a West Coast IPA lover as anyone, but I can't deny that the fresh bottles of HopSlam I had last year were incredibly tasty. Really looking forward to tracking down a few freshies this go round!

Okay...you got me. ~$40/ 12pack is a steal. By the way, I call excessive "LOLing" on your part.

What a sensationalist manner to quote the price of a beer. Who doubles the price and quantity of an item to establish a basis for the market? Yes, its expensive to a $12 (or whatever, I have no clue what this shit costs) BMC 12pack, but this is a 10% ipa.

To compare, I recently bought a $23 12 pack of Ithaca's Box of Hops, full of high ABV IPAs, so not comparing with BMC products, but I see you just want to keep arguing with whatever I post. Oh, and keep LOLing.

Ok, great. Enjoy your Hopslam. I enjoyed it too the first few years I tried it. The last time I had it, it wasn't really all that great (to me). Considering I had to schlep out to PA just to get a very expensive case (I actually halved it before, not doubled it like you suggested), and now get awesome DIPAs easier and cheaper, I'm happier not bothering anymore. But I do disagree that none of those Ithaca beers from that box are anywhere near the quality of Hopslam. But hey, to each his own. Really I just got into this with you in the first place out of mild annoyance with your over the top response to my original post.

Yeah, the internal Texas laws are weird. We have a pretty decent selection at our downtown Specs. We can get some Jester King and Community. Deep Ellum is probably the most common. Don't think I've seen any Lakewood. If you're looking to get some Karbach, let me know and maybe we can get a trade going.

I'm just waiting for someone to say "this years so and so tastes better than last years". I think people just talk shit about this years version so you know they scored some last year and you missed out

The first time I had HopSlam a couple years ago my mind was blown. Last year I was more like... "This is HopSlam?"

I hope to find a bottle or two this year or at least try this on-tap and see how it stacks up. It used to be my highest rated beer on the site.
