2015 Hopslam

No, I didn't even know there was a list. I picked up a 6 from him at about 4:30 this year. I was told it was the last sixer. What time were you there?

 

I was referring to @heavydetour 's post. I only chimed in that I might have been snubbed by the guy since I never received any emails he signed me up for and I need to stop back in and see why. I thought he was the greatest Meijer employee ever when he was going to hook me up with Black Note. I only became suspicious when I never received any emails and he said it never surfaced.

 

For those that have seen distro already, how does this years batch compare to last years?? I pray it's an improvement bc last year disappointed me tremendously

 

I thought last year's batch was missing the huge hop bite that the beer is typically known for but I am happy to report that the 1/8/15 batch is drinking tremendously.

Huge hop wallop up front giving way to some nice sweetness and a dry, ever so slightly boozy finish. Love it.

 

it is the same. just like the year before that and the years before that.

 

Anyone know when this is supposed to hit WI?

I thought the beer was too bitter on 1/14/2015 when i found it.. But in the last couple days its become sweeter.. Or maybe my palate is wrecked from getting used to it

 

Was able to score a case a Meijer on Zeeb Road in Ann Arbor today on my way to Kzoo. Bell's General Store sold out of it 3PM yesterday.

 

From my understating, Macomb county south of 59 hit last week... North of 59 this week. Champaines got 15 cases and sold out in 1/2 day on Wednesday. Guy at Ninos said that rave will be delivering 2 shipments to all stores a week apart. So north of 59 should get another shipment next week too.

 

Hey Upper-Mid-Michigan people -- Got a buddy in Roscommon right now, coming back home to Metro Detroit tomorrow. He's looking for a place on the way back that has Hopslam. He'll be coming back down I-75, through Saginaw and on down. Did the Meijer stores up there get any allotments? If not, any other advice I can pass along to him? Thanks + Cheers!

 

stopped by south haven meijer last night after work only to watch a couple guys grab the last two sixxers..
this will be in holland and most of west MI tomorrow btw..

 

^^yes, most Grand Rapids stores will be receiving this week. Confirmed on Friday by two local bottle shops.

 

Champagnes gets 2 deliveries a week from rave. Most of macomb gets Monday, very few gets Wednesday which is bullshit. We always get last dibs on allocations. I'm getting my shipment tomorrow and will tap it immediately

 

completely agree. thought something was missing from last years batch and think this years is outstanding.

Went to the beer store on Friday. Dude automatically scans a 6'er of Hopslam without saying anything. I felt like an asshole telling him, "No thanks, I'm really not a fan of the beer."

 

I had a glass of Hopslam Saturday at One-Eyed Betty's in Ferndale, and I have to say I don't know how this beer changes so much.

First time I had it in a bottle..? Mind blown. Second time I had it? It was pretty decent, but tasted like a different beer pretty much. Third time was a wash because it was a 3 or 4 month old bottle.

When I had it the other day, I loved it again. It was served way too cold, but it tasted almost like I remember it being when I had it the first time. So good.

 

I remember being able to get this without having to search for it and getting on a list. I love this beer but how much should I have to go through to get it?
