This. I hosted a bottle share at my house last weekend. One of my neighbor beer snobs brought a Hopslam. Never had one before. I'm not an IPA guy or a fan of overly bitter beers. I thought it was a decent beer and was surprised I was even drinking it at all. Now I see this thread and realize he clearly had brought one from last year. One man's trash is another man's treasure I suppose. So if anyone is seriously considering dumping some of this from last year, bm me. Seriously. No joke....

Oh, and I accidentally cellar stuff too. My stash sometimes gets so piled up I forget what's on the bottom. Organizing my cellar is on my to do list.

I guess I always thought it made perfect sense. Why not delay a bottle release so people will come to drink kegs of it first?

That's not a terrible idea in theory, but it doesn't really work in practice because 1) We don't typically see many kegs of these beers anyway (in particular I'm thinking about Founder's Harvest), and 2) Why apply that logic to hold out on Michigan but not other states?

Completely unrelated to Hopslam but Bell's related, so it's all good . For the Chicago area folks, Binny's has a few Bell's on sale right now. Expedition Stout @ 13.99, Third Coast Old Ale @ 13.99. Time to stock up! Back to your regular Hopslam news.

I gotta imagine that it IS related to Hopslam in that they wanna make room for it on the shelves.

Yught! Couldn't resist a sixer of Expedition at that price point even though I hardly need more.

    Shelf?
Hopslam is a "Floor Beer" if there ever was one. Why make shelf space for a beer that lasts such a brief time (or a "beer nerd minute" as I'm going to start calling it)?

Vav, who is your Bell's distributor so I can email them and ask them why Missouri can get theirs next week & California can seemingly get theirs the following week, yet Chicago cannot get any until the week after that.

Any chance it hit the General Store this weekend? I'll be rolling through and would stop if they did.

Bell's is with the Old Style network. Central Beverage here and Skokie Valley further north.

4-5 weeks old is perfectly fine for Two Hearted.

Thanks Vav. Emails sent to Central Beverage & Skokie Valley. I'm not expecting any responses in all lilkelihood but at least I can voice my opinion.

Is it a big deal? No, hardly. I certainly find it curious though and figured to email them to ask why.

No it's not a BIG deal but when you're talking hoppy, obviously you want it as fresh as possible and it would be nice to know the reason why CA and MO get it weeks before IL when they're much further away. I'm sure there's a good reason as to why. Just curious I guess.
