Perhaps they toned something that affects the tartness down to keep bottles from exploding this year?

Agree that this year's Beliner is lacking the tartness it's had in prior years. Good wheat and white wine flavors, but the tartness is just lacking compared to prior batches. :slight_frown:

Drinking my first Berliner now ... decent but a shell of its former self. Not as acidic (lemony) and lacking wine-like flavors found in prior releases. Unfortunately I'll be scratching this off as my go-to warm weather beer this summer.

Between the early disappointment and berliner now being a semi- regular release, I suspect there will be plenty of berliner to go around this year. Next Thumbprint, please.

Festival foods on Green Bay Rd in Neenah will have a good selection of New Glarus beers and Cellars Wine and Spirits is right down the street as well. Also the Woodmans in Appleton is a solid spot for NG stuff and they will likely have full cases for sale. Only about 20 minutes from Neenah.

I was hoping for Belgian Tart, Serendipity, Raspberry Tart, Enigma, and Apple Ale. Totally Naked sounds good, but I've never had it.

Certainly a different outcome than years past. I highly doubt you will ever see any bottle variation with a pasteurized NG beer, though. One bottle = every bottle, unless it's an R&D. I'm on the bandwagon with this year's Berliner. It's less tart and more malt forward. Very disappointing in the scheme of things. You historically add syrup to these things, right? I bet it would be good with some lime/lemon juice. Maybe I'll have to give it a shot--for science.

I wonder if NG went back to the recipe previous to last year's. I remember having both side by side and thinking holy crap they knocked it out of the park with last year's. But yeah I do agree that this years is less citrusy. It has a nice sour punch up front, but lacks the bold lemony flavor. They set the bar pretty high last year, plus having Destihl as a noisy neighbor.

Im not sure about a recipe change, but there was a spelling change from the old (Weiss) to the new (Weisse)

Two bottles of Strawberry Rhubarb left at the Bill's Food Center in Oregon. Was tempting to take them, but I'll let someone else go for it first. If they are there next week, I'll have no choice but to snag them.

Still cases of it at SunP Woodmans.

There's also a bunch at the brewery. It's a hair more expensive than what you'll find at other stores, but at least it's available.

Anyone pick up Scream at the Depot this past week? Got a 4 pk and the bottling date is completely illegible. Must have been an issue with their date printing as it seemed most of the bottles which were out had the same issue. I'm thinking it's more recent than the 071 batch as I saw one 4pk there with the 071 date and the printing was clear as day. Just curious if anyone knew the date on these.

This year's Berliner seems more to style to me. Still has a ton of carbonation. Lots of wheat, mild tartness. Not overly sour. I really don't think it's that much different than it has been in the past.

This is probably a little late to ask, but do any stores in the Kenosha area have Enigma anymore? I still wouldn't mind getting that, if it isn't too late. Don't mind if it's a few months old, as long as it was from the run they did around late 2014/early 2015.

It's still around. But if you can't find it and want to work out an IP deal I can toss ya a 4pk. Just let me know, got plenty left.

I'll let you know if I do want to do any trades, and thanks for the offer. I might try to go to the Kenosha area next weekend or later this week(when I have time), to see what I find.

No problem, always happy to help if it's something I have in the cellar. I don't recall seeing it at the brewery when I was there today. If it's not at Woodmans then try Tenutas in Kenosha, incredible selection there.
