If it's handled like last year I'll be happy. After a couple of weird chaotic years when the bars didn't seem to get the demand for it, last year was a relaxing change.
I'm interested in doing some comparisons with it vs. Superpower and Fix Your Heel...even if it means smuggling my own in.

I would lend a hand on that smuggle...

FRTH has had Superpower on tap regularly, I'm sure if you asked, he'd try to have both on tap at the same time.

Also thanks McNazz for starting the thread to get the hype train rolling... :stuck_out_tongue:

From here on out, everyone should call up every bar in town and ask every day when they'll have PtY on tap.

Ok, seriously though, it sounds from that post that they won't even distribute it until the following week after Feb. 20th, doesn't that seem late to anyone else? I usually assume around V-day

All aboard the hype train.

It does seem to be getting later and later each year. Falling Rock's first tapping last year was Feb 19th, which I believe is always the first tapping in CO each year.

    According to my Untappd feed:
    In '11, Feb 20th.
    In '12, Feb 12th.
    In '13, Feb 16th (& 23rd)
In '14, Feb 23rd (although, I think I went to the 2nd weekend tapping at FRTH, so first one was probably around the 16th)

As a new resident to Colorado, I'm really excited to be able to try this next month!

That sounds right. Also 2013 was the best cause there was a blizzard on the 24th and NO ONE showed up at FR. Worked to my advantage nicely.

Me and @Powell014 were to the left of the bar as you look at it, and when they said "just come on up and get another pour" we were very happy, haha...

Supposedly CO (with most of it in Denver) gets more PtY than anywhere else, including all of California. I've heard that from several people and I guess we owe much of it to Chris Black at the FRTH.
No matter what you think of the beer itself, it's really cool that we aren't all having to pile in one location on a single day just to try it.
I won't be that guy saying "it was better last year" but has anyone else had a differing opinion of it from year to year?

I realize why they do it during the week, but I wish I could get a weekend tapping... got the first tap of it one year at FR by coincidence when I worked weekends, but I was too sick to distinguish it from the elder, c'est la vie. Would love to have it side by side with Superpower or Backcountry. Shoot I'd even like to see how sucks or breakside stack up.

Although there is a line, or tickets, or whatever at every single place... and every place is full. It USED to be you could walk in <30min. before tapping and get a pour and a lot of times a second pour. Now it's a bit more crazy. So more places/times to try it, YES! But we still have to lineup/pile in.

I believe Hops & Pie had it on a weekend last year. I remember because I randomly drove by H&P on a Sunday (or Saturday?) morning without a clue, saw the line outside, and went home to consult the interwebs re: what was going on. Almost went back, but couldn't convince the wife and also figure I'd be too late. Still not sure if I'm dedicated enough to wait a couple hours for a pour or two, even if it wholly lives up to its reputation.

I get that lines suck, etc., but I think it's nice once in a while to have events that a bunch of beer nerds get together at to share an appreciation for something. It's fun and to me that's what the beer world should be all about. It's too bad there's not always enough to go around, but that is what makes it special. Hope I can make it to one the tappings!

Ummm... pretty sure Falling Rock is on a Sat/Sun every year... am I nuts? I didn't go last year but 2013 was on consecutive weekends for sure.

Last year Falling Rock did a Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday tapping, correct me if I'm wrong but they usually do the same days of the week every year. There will be plenty of other tappings all around Central/Northern Colorado though.
