How was zwicklemania? I visited oakshire and had a great sample of perfect storm from the zwickle and a sneak preview of hellshire v from a bottle. Also a great firkin sample of a raspberry golden sour and citrafonix from a keg. Great tour to go with great beer.

How were other places? I'd have loved to make it out to hood river, but was lucky enough to find a 2015 peche n brett at bier stein.

Crux has a Saison aged in Pinot barrels with peaches, pears and Brett. It's fantastic.

Logsdon's new tasting room in downtown Hood River is surprisingly rustic, a little barn atmosphere right off the sidewalk. Nice samples of Seizoen Bretta from the conditioning tank. We also tasted Seizoen, Peche n' Brett, and an earthy farmhouse stout called Kleine Stouterd ("little naughty one"). Peche bottles were $25. We didn't get any.

We really enjoyed the pFriem tour. Two very tasty food/beer pairings and a good look at their barrel/oak aging resources. After the tour we went next door had a round and some tasty marinated olives. Looking forward to their first bottles, which should be available soon.

Sounds awesome. Did either give away glassware? Saw some of the HR breweries were offering free glassware but don't remember which ones.

No glassware at either of those places, unfortunately. Double Mountain and Full Sail were giving away glasses, but we didn't take tours there. (Double Mountain was fully booked for tours by the time we got there a little after 2:00.)

Side note for Double Mountain: Their 1st Crack Coffee Porter is one of the most coffee-forward beers I've ever had. Not my favorite of the day, but an impressive beast nonetheless.

I was in Hood River and somehow hit all 5 in town.

    1. Pfriem. Great tour, we got two great food parings (as @vurt said above). The pork terrine with pickled onions paired with the RyePA was extremely good. Love that place. We also got a pint of their mosaic pale that was fantastic. They have had sour beers aging for 2 years, which is insane. I'm really stoked to see these show up in bottles sometime in the future.

    2. Logsdon is well.... Logsdon. Had the newest Peche n Brett that smelled like straight up peach rings. So damn good - but I didn't buy a bottle, because I know they end up in PDX for cheaper. Also had the far west vlamming, a young seizoen bretta off the zwickle, Creases, and a farmhouse dry stout that tasted like dark chocolate . They had a great spread of olympic provisions sausages, cheeses and chocolate. Really nice all around and not crowded.

    3. Double Mountain. Walked in and tours were full, but the tour guide let us on standby. Nice little tour - Got a taste of the Kolsch out of the zwickle that was a bit young, yet delicious. They also had generous pours of the their IRA that had been aging in Bourbon barrels for 4 YEARS, and sour beer whose base was originally brewed in 2007. The IRA was intense, the sour extremely delicious. We also got pours of Molten Lava of the zwickle. All around a generous tour with a free pint glass.

    4. Full Sail. We had done this tour a few times before, in which they usually give a free pint glass out. This time we got a free tulip glass, which was a nice change. They also gave free pours of their bourbon barrel aged stout paired with chocolate. It was a nice time all around.

    5. Big Horse. I can't say enough good things. I am so high on this place after going. For those who don't know, this is a family owned brewpub since 1988 that sits at the top of hood river. They didn't have a zwicklemania event, but we got a couple beers and food. Their Strictly Rude #16 IPA right now is insane - taste and smells like pallet jack - no effin joke. Also their oatmeal stout is coffee forward and fantastic. I don't know if we just hit it on a good day, but their beer is exceptional.

I still believe that hood river is the best place for zwicklemania - I will be back next year.

pnb was 25 each limit 6 per person.

it will be interesting to see what logsdon does with that space, it was a lot smaller than I expected.

Thanks for the HR reports. Sounds like it was everything I expected and missed out on.

Anyone make it to breakside for the safe word release?

This will be on tap at our Crooked Stave/Crux/Allagash all-wood, all-wild tap takeover during CBC! I can't wait to try it!

This bottle will also be released at the CBC event, and on tap as well.

I can't tell if you're being facetious as the event is contained in the same post. Event is currently un-named officially, but I'm in favor of Crooked Stave, Crux, & Allagash are: WYLD STALLYNS

Not trying to hijack this post with CBC stuff, just thought it was relevant in this case and I'm stoked Crux was sampling people on it!

@Phobicsquirrel I also may assume too much that you know that I do the beer at The Hop & Vine. Apologies!

    Was in Bend.

Hit Boneyard which was fun and pretty crowded. Had samples of everything and picked up a growler of Hop Venom for $13

Crux was also really crowded, but the "park" next to it was perfect for kids/dogs to run around and a great place to soak up some sun and drink. toured the facility which is really nice and also did some samples. Saison was fantastic

all in all, had fun but the Bend breweries (and bend in general) seemed to be packed with people. the weather was damn near perfect so maybe that was why.
