I know we've got threads for the Prop Day and GI Clybourn tasting, but I think a thread is in order for the much larger magnitude that is the BCBS release at various retailers across the city & suburbs that will begin in just over 3 weeks.

The only nugget of information I have thus far is that Binny's said on Twitter they will most likely have BCBS release details by the end of this week. That should get a lot of conversation going about what they're allocating, potential vintage bottles, etc.

I long for the old days with every passing release. Not even 'off flavors' can temper the coming insanity! Let the hype begin.....

I long for the days when I had no responsibilities and could pretty much do as I please most days...but those days are long gone as well.

And I wouldn't say let the hype begin...in these days, the hype never really ends.

With lines that begin nearly 24 hours in advance at some locations, there must be a lot of people with no responsibilities?

As far as hype goes for this beer, I thought half of the malcontents swore it off after the issues?

Apparently true on the first question, and I'm sure NONE of those that cursed the GI name will be buying this year! :grimacing:

So that means I can walk right in at opening at LP binnys and get full allotment and first choice at vintages!? That being said it will be interesting to see if the size has a huge impact from last year.

I didn't go last year as I was out of town, but will be there this year, and I still expect a huge turnout. I hope I'm wrong though!

For those familiar with LP and the area...where is a good spot to hit after Binny's LP to get a few extra bottles? I'm not trying to corral every last bottle of Prop in the city....just a few extra bottles of reg to get me through winter.

Used to chase in the suburbs but moved downstate....making my first trip to the LP release. Hopefully someone is kind enough to share a decent prospect or 2....

Been in Chicago 3 years now, and am never in town for the release due to traveling home. I got no shot at Prop bottles (surprise, didn't win the Prop day lotto), but will be checking this thread in hopes of tapping locations after Thanksgiving.

Last year I tried a bunch at GI Fulton taproom. And I'm not stressing regular BCS as I found some at Jewel of all places weeks after release.

I've never waited in a line for beer and I will not be starting this year. If you live in the city there are plenty of chances to try every variant you could possibly want to try.

That said, I do miss the good old days of buying things like King Henry days after the release.

If anyone knows of any good places in the NW Burbs for Bourbon County I'd greatly appreciate it (feel free to shoot me a PM if you prefer not to blow up a spot). The only variant I was able to get on Black Friday last year was Barleywine. Would really love to get a coffee and prop this year.

If you line up at any Binny's you'll likely get one of each (assuming they run it similar to last year). That's probably your best bet if you are looking for one of each tbh.

That what I did last year and only got the reg and BW. Went to Des Plains Binnys and got there around 6:15am.

I just paid the premium and bought my at bars. I'd rather just walk in and out and pay extra than sit outside for 3 hours. I just wanted 2-3 bottles, and had plenty on tap over the next couple months.

Is there a reason you just don't go to the Lincoln Park Binny's? If you're concerned (not sure if that's the right word) enough to ask about it now, then why not drive the extra 30 minutes to assure yourself of all them?

On second thought...stay in the burbs and stay out of my line!

It's certainly something to consider. Would just prefer to stay in the burbs if I can get one full allotment.

I've been toying with trying the LP binnys release his year. In the past I've avoided all the lines and just gotten what I could afterwards. Is it even worth going if I don't show up until 6AM or so?

I got two BCBS and a Barleywine by strolling into my local Binny's at 10 last year. I'll get there earlier this year and see how that goes. I'll also likely haul ass to another store when I'm done because it doesn't open until 10.

I might consider LP if there were more variants (especially a vanilla), but I don't feel like dealing with the mob for "just" a prop.

I remember hearing last year that some BCBS reg was released Black Friday at some costcos in the suburbs. Can anyone confirm this? Is it possible/likely that Any Costco locations will have BCBS reg this year?

People that showed up around 9 or 10am were getting full allotments at LP Binny's last year.
