Just a friendly reminder/ something to think about. If this is your first time going please bring extra blankets for your mules. I'd rather see people hiding under blankets than a sudden emergence of 15-50 (depending on the location) people coming out of cars.

Don't mistake this for entitlement, but it's frustrating when you've been sitting outside for hours on end and your number in line gets pushed out of "prop" range to just hoping for coffee

Guess the mules aren't built for this...if your mules need extra blankets, it's means you're mules aren't tough enough.

So you should be able to jump out of line and return at 10:00/10:30 once you get a ticket, no? Why would you continue to wait in line after you got a ticket (if you're not one of the first 200 people or so looking for specific vintages)?

My mother in law is covered in hair. Keeps her good and warm for times like these.

Just give her a carton of Basics and some scratch offs, and she's good to go for at least 2 full allotments.

If you come back at 1030, you'd still be in the same line, right? Just farther back. So I guess that part's up to you.

My family lives out of state (in WI) and every year I visit and wake up on Black Friday at 9am, drive to the local liquor store and purchase my Regular, Coffee and BW. A few years they have allowed me to purchase a case each. I live in Chicago, but really can't grasp the fact that people sleep overnight in Chicago for beer when the same exact beer is available 60 miles away with no line. I guess it's the Chicago beer scene. Not really getting it though.

I'd be willing to give it a shot, as I've loved the 2012 BCBS I have had (as recently as a couple months ago). I also had a 2010 BCBS last year that I enjoyed.

    This is sarcasm, right?

This is simply not true. Past vintages are all still excellent. Coffee starts to turn into green peppers after about three years, but regular is great for at least 8ish years. Had an 08, 10, 11, and 12 this year, all which were spectacular.

Some people like the spectacle, but also, you're not getting something like Prop out of state, so there's that element to it, too. I have a couple small shops I can go to for regular (maybe not coffee this year?), but what I really want is a bottle of Prop. Best chance for all variants is almost always gonna be Binny's, so that's why people suck it up.

Now, I don't have the dedication to camp out overnight for it; an hour or two is about my max.

I don't think you'll have to camp out for it if you get there by 8 or 9am right?

I think the general consensus for LP is you wouldn't necessarily have to camp out. Can't speak for the other places though.

Yeah no need to camp out unless you're wanting a prop or VR. They didn't sell out of allotments until noon last year. And you were still able to grab 2 vintage 12 oz bcbs to boot.

I have to disagree here. I've been fortunate to be a part of groups that have done large BCBS verticals each year since the 2011 release and every year the consensus winner is 3 years old. Anything aged past 5 years has been noticeably worse although still very good.

I wasn't trying to imply that you'd need to do that (camp out) to get a full allocation; I was just responding to the dude saying he didn't get why people stood in line for hours at Binny's instead of just heading up to a smaller liquor store.
