So the 2017 merch item is a flannel shirt...it keeps getting harder and harder to spend my money on this.

There's only so many glasses, growlers, openers and t-shirts one can have. Ok. Maybe you can't have enough t-shirts. I like the flannel idea. It's unique even though you can really only use it 6 months out of the year at most. There are a few more exclusive bottles up for purchase.

Its a very specific look that is long out-of-style. I'm sure some people will like it but for most people its basically JNCO jeans. Not a big deal, but kind of funny from my perspective. This past year's merch was pretty useless as well, I wish they would scrap the merch and just give us an extra bottle.

Really glad I don't get my style advise from random people on BA, but if you don't like it just don't renew, not a hard concept

Just offer your flannel to somebody for cost ahead of time or trade it for some beer. Somebody will be collecting all 3 shirts.

If anyone wants my shirt, reply with what color and size. I'll take it for cost or beer.

My friend @raveskdr and I just boarded the Fut Note Pain Train. All 5 variants...it hurt...it hurt bad. Diacetyl with fruit juice.

Gilt was an improvement since it only mildly reeked of nail polish.

Horizon Society 2017 is open for current 2016 members to renew through the end of the month before they open up to everyone else Oct 1st. Below are a few highlights so you don't have to click much. Staying the same cost as last year and having access to more bottles. Shipping will be available in 2017!

In order to see the renewal you have to log-in to your account and it will show up in the Store.

    _________________________________________________________________________

What do I get as a member?

    2017 Horizon Society Membership includes

    • 2 Bottles of 2017 Resolute – Nov 2017
    • 5 Additional bottles throughout the year.
    • One high quality merchandise item – Flannel baby!
In addition to the above package, select beers will be made available for purchase exclusively to Horizon Society Members. We expect to have around 12 additional member exclusive beers for 2017. Some expected 2017 exclusives are:

    • Coconut/Vanilla Resolute
    • Steadfast
    • Sour Red with Cherries
Horizon Society Memberships are for private use only. Members may not resell member-exclusive beers.

Where can I get my beers?

Membership beers will be available for pickup exclusively at Brothers Craft Brewing, and you will be able to pick up your beers during any of our normal taproom hours.

Shipping inside the state of VA is available at cost to the member. Standardized shipping boxes and packaging will be used. Age 21+ verification during shipment.

Will you hold my beers, and for how long?

Yes, we will happily hold your beers at the brewery until you can pickup.

In 2017 all releases for the first half of the year (through June) will be held until July 15, 2017. The releases for the second half of the year will be held until January 15, 2018. Any beer that is not picked up by the pickup cut-off dates will be forfeited without refund and released for sale.

Am I reading the latest email from the Horizon account correctly? If so, it exemplifies my frustration with the experience.

They allocate three beers with a short turnaround, two of which are included with the membership fee, but they confusingly require you to order said "included" beers through the site using a coupon code in order to secure them. Why on earth would anyone need to order beers that are included for free? Who is turning down free beers?

Props on them for making it right, but I could have done without the chastising, condescending, "y'all are seriously making everything SO HARD" email, which seems to be the tone of most what I get from the Horizon account. Who the hell are they letting write these missives?

I don't think they thought the task of having members "order" their included bottles would be that hard to do especially since it's how we get member exclusive bottles and any extras they release. At least they responded quickly and everyone will get their included bottles for the remainder of the year without that effort....so long as they pick up by mid January.

But we shouldn't have to "order" beers that are included, if they are included as they become available they should be set aside for everyone in the society. I do agree that the emails lately have had a more of aggravated tone.

For as much as I hyped the Horizon Society last year and I was a trustee for what seemed like half of the society I am pretty let down this year. I thought the hiccups were just first year jitters but more and more seem to pop up. As of right now there is a 99% chance that I wont renew.

I have been pleased this year. I was not a member in 2015 but having heard the stories about how some of last year's beers (Fut Notes) fell short I was hoping the Bros made big improvements just as they made with the Resolute Day debacle from 2014. I have really enjoyed the beers as well as how they are addressing any issue (promptly) being brought up in the group page. I knew I would only be making 3-4 trips to the brewery since I live over an hour away so nothing outside of the bottles really impacted me. The Squealer is cool but I knew I would not take advantage of the weekly fills. I figured a $40 free item but 7 included bottles averaging around $21 each were a good deal. Not to mention the opportunity to buy at least 6 more exclusive beers and be guaranteed at least 2 regular resolutes and at least 1 of each variant without having to make a special trip for Resolute Day if something happened to come up and I have to miss it. The saved cost of a weekend stay in H'Burg that weekend more than covers membership.

I will say I started off the year disappointed once they started announcing bottles. DOn't get me wrong, I have enjoyed them but I was not too thrilled to have basically 2 base beers (Daylight Cravings and Great Debate) then a bunch of variants as my included and exclusive bottles but it appears as though there will be more variety the rest of the year on what bottles are coming.

Quick question for previous members. I'm curious how the resolute and variants were handled last year for members, any option for members to buy an allocation of the variants? I know what's included this year but trying to decide if the membership is actually worth it next year.

Pretty sure It was 1 bottle of each (Coconut & Double Vanilla) in 2015 for member purchase. 2 bottles of regular Resolute included like this year and the exclusive AB Resolute for purchase.

From the time having spend in line getting wristbands plus cost of an hotel for a stay if you are from out of town I think it's definitely woth it just for convenience and if you are good with member allocations. It's up to the member whether they was to plan the weekend out in hopes of getting more. Not to mention most of the beers so far this year have been very good.

The guaranteed allotment of variants as well as the horizon society variant exclusive is what sold me on signing back up for 2016 and what will most likely sell me on signing back up again for 2017.

2017 memberships open up to current non-members on Saturday, Oct. 1st. Not sure the limit Bros has reserved for next year but be sure to renew if you have not done so already. I think one big added benefit that will draw more members in 2017 is they will finally be able to ship bottles (VA Only)

Well, I just signed up for 2017. I was a 2015 member and the Fut Notes alone caused me to opt out of 2016. That was before I had a chance to taste the Resolute variants. Back in for the Resolutes + variant set. Hoping for a great year!

Hey dudes! Quick question - are trustees generally pretty easy to find? I'm back and forth between VA and Indiana, but would probably need a trustee to send some of my Horizon membership beers throughout the year. I'm happy to provide labels and boxes of Midwest Thank You beers (i.e FFF), but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger if I won't be able to find someone.

    Cheers!
