Not sure which day to go...hopefully with 4,500 bottles it will go relatively smooth.

I'm feeling the same way. I usually go Friday after I get off work at 7, grab my 2 bottles and a draught and head home...but I don't think there is any way it'll make it to 5:30-6 on Friday. May just shoot for getting there a little early on Saturday and hoping for the best.

This is true in the case of locals. But I doubt very much that a significant number of out-of-town hoarders will be present all three days, especially if they brought mules with them.

I've never gone out of my way for a JK fruited sour release. I've bought Synthesis Analogous and Aurelian Lure very easily on weekends that I happened to be in Austin for other reasons. Kudos to them for trying new things. I hope it works. If this is successful and becomes the new norm, it may encourage me to make the trip up there more often.

The ones that know the game are generally here two days. Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday. One overnight stay in a cool city and you maximize your trip. That's what I would do anyway . I'm looking forward to seeing the changes in place. I'm not looking forward to 105+ heat index though. HYDRATE.

Stop crying people. It's a new format, they even mentioned they're "trying it" to see how it works and it's by no means the new normal.

The entitlement over beer on this site is unbelievable.

It would seem like this new format would help out of towners. For O&P, if you were an out of towner who couldn't make it on Friday evening, you were basically SOL. For MvB, an out of towner could show up on Sat and Sun and get bottles (provided they show up early enough). For locals, it's probably about the same. As a local, I like to go later on release Fridays after the initial shitshow dies down. Both me and my wife like this because we both hate standing in line for hours cooking in the heat and wasting time. We got 4 bottles of O&P on Friday and were happy. For MvB, we now likely have to show up at opening each day (and likely earlier for wristbands like GinNoc and Sat. of O&P) and wait in line. Theoretically, if we were able to do that all 3 days, we could get 12 bottles between the two of us. But if we can't get of work early enough on Friday and/or either cannot or are unwilling to show up before or at opening on Sat/Sun, we will get none. So for locals like myself, it's the difference of getting a guaranteed 4 with a low chance of getting more with the O&P format or having the opportunity to get 12 but with a guarantee of 0. I will reserve my own judgment after the weekend but since I don't consider myself a "hoarder," I think I prefer the O&P "traditional" format. But kudos to JK for experimenting to find what works best for them. Either way, I like that kegs will be held for all three days. But these are just, like, my opinions man.

It gets old, but in the world of interwebz and social media, these complaints don't really move the 'unbelievable' needle

Totally true, but then again nothing does anymore. And it's still not ok lol

I usually would go at 9 PM on Friday for a release for the casual show up, get my bottle, grab a glass, enjoy the weather at that time and leave.

For me, it doesn't work better as I am not going to wait in a line while showing up early. I can completely get why they are doing it though, so no issue there. I just likely won't end up with a bottle so oh well. I'll survive.

On this site? It seems to me it is everywhere, take a peek at the other site and facebook and other social media. It's the interwebz afterall, just let it go and participate in the anticipation of another good beer at a cool brewery we all love.

Worse for me as, as I really enjoyed not having to stress about these big releases, as long as I got there sometime Friday night. We live a few+ hours away. Im glad it will at least still be 2pp.

But I can see it being better for the brewery, guaranteeing crowds through Sunday. Good for them. Also, spreading the kegs out seems like a great idea. It was strange to get to some releases that still had bottles, but no draft.

We will just have to leave a couple of hours earlier if we want to make sure we get some bottles.

Surprised no one has mentioned the draught aspect. I think it is much better to spread it throughout the weekend. I understand people complaining about the bottles though since most people don't want to stand in line. Curious to see how it works out.

It's not a big deal, just commenting. I get psyched to see there's a thread about this year's release of MvB click into it, and most of the responses I see aren't about the beer itself, but about how the release doesn't jive with people's personal lives. Especially when JK is trying something new and trying to be helpful. It's just sort of ridiculous.

I'll be there this Friday, I'm excited for the beer itself and to do a side by side with the last batch.

As this is my wife's favorite JK beer, we'll be braving the crowds. I'm guessing we're going to try this afternoon. I'm interested to see how quickly the bottles sell out at 2pp. At 3000 and 1pp I think it was gone by EoD Sunday last year.

These release threads always crack me up:
User 1 - "Jester King should release the beer this way"
User 2 - "No Jester King should release it this other way"
User 3 - "People who comment on Jester King releases should behave this way and have these opinions"
User 4 - "Line & bottle count updates"
    User 1 - "Post-release complaining"
    User 2 - "Post-release praise"
    Repeat.

Any word on the line/ how the supply looks? I was supposed to get there at 5, but I got held up at work and won't be able to get there until 630. Just wondering if it's still worth going

Pretty crowded for a Friday open. Bet this sells out quicker than first thought.
