Goddammit. I want that something awful. May be a short trip in the works for a case.

    Money.

    Duh.

Two things that I thought of:

    1. Brewery only releases compel people to spend money at the brewery. Not on this beer specifically, although the margins are probably slightly better on brewery-sold beer than distributed. (NG has a long history of working with distributors - they never self distributed from what I've been told - so I don't think they are trying to undercut their distributor in any way). But when you go to the brewery, you spend money. You buy beer that you might not have otherwise bought, including draft beers. You by merch. You buy La Fortuna Pizza. You stop in at Glarner Stube. You buy gas in the local gas station.

    2. Zwickel hasn't been brewed since 2004/2005 from what I can tell. I was wondering if they needed to get new labels approved that they either (a) didn't realize until is was too late, or (b) purposely chose not to update. Label approvals cost money, as does sitting on beer waiting for label approval. But as far as I know, you don't need label approval for beers sold at the brewery. I don't follow label approvals as closely as I used to, so maybe I'm off on this one.

Love to hear more from someone with insight, especially into the size of the batch they brewed.

Just called and it sounds like release next week? That doesn't make sense to me

Yeah, it said something on Instagram about St. Patrick's Day

The Facebook page seems to imply st. Patrick's day

Was just at the brewery. No details on the zwickel release. The employee I spoke to said that Deb should never have made the Instagram post. I asked about the next thumbprint and mentioned I'm hoping/guessing it's Cranbic. The employee could not tell me but stated I made an astute guess.

Interesting. I wonder if this means that it will see wider distribution then. It just seems odd that they would do a brewery-only release of a beer that used to be a seasonal and that they would go through the trouble of having new labels made for such a small run.

Yeah the whole thing is weird. I asked if he knew how the distro would be (sixers, four packs) and he couldn't tell me anything. I'm wondering if it really is just a very small amount for St Pattys week.

Never had this one. How does this beer compare to Yokel?

If I had it, I don't remember it.

Why would it be bottled and not ready for sale? A zwickel in a perfect world should be drank as fresh as possible. And what does it have to do with st Patrick day besides having a green label? I will make the trip out to get some but the whole thing is weird to me.

Didn't NG say they were going to have a brewery only lager available year round starting this year? I swear I read that somewhere on here but don't remember where.

And I said no way to Zwickel. I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again.

This has to be the most excitement/anticipation/speculation I've seen on BA for a lager release probably ever haha

New batch of Scream out. 0606. It's delicious. They have to ditch those black on brown dates, they're very hard to read

Could you tell me if you found it in Madison, and where. Been waiting forever to try Scream again.

Yes in Madison. Harley's on Cottage Grove and Monona. Out in the stacks, not in the cooler.

Its NG they make damn good lager beers. Its one of the few exception's to BA's lager prejudice.

According to the Facebook zwickel is hitting the beer depot today with a two case limit. Seems to be a new recipe with an old name.

I'm heading to Madison on Friday. I wonder if there is any chance any will still be available on Friday?
