2016 NHL Playoffs

My son adopted the Blues as his second favorite team. Loves Bouwmeester and Tarasenko. We'll be pulling for the Blues to be certain. That and the harder the Stars fall due to lack of quality netminding, the better return the Pens can get on Fleury. Ya, I've accepted that due to expansion draft, we're going to lose a goalie and Meurray is our guy for the future I believe... Hoping for a first rounder back for Flower since Buffalo set precedent by sending a 1st round pick to Ottowa for.....Lehner....

 

Pretty sure that's the target season.

 

My thoughts on the Lightning as well.

I'm thinking of putting together a small box, like a consolation prize, for all 12 entrants that aren't in the finals. Perhaps everyone reverse draft (based on initial draft order) and pick a player. Probably have to do it for finals since it's too late to get it rolling with Pens and 'Ning players. Even with two teams where one could be the Sharks, there's gotta be 12 worthwhile players to pick from!

Way it works is everyone in reverse draft order (@ChrisL24481 picks first, @swenny916 picks last) one player. Whomever picks the player that ends the Stanley Cup playoffs with the most points wins! If two or more selected players end with the same number of points, tie breaker rules are as follows:

1. Player on winning team
2. Player with most penalty minutes
3. Player with most PP points
4. I write the player names on pucks and make my son shoot them the length of the ice before a morning skate. The puck that goes in the net wins.

You can pick players from all four teams, but I may or may not suspend the first game in each series. Depends on how many Pens or Lightning players go before tonights game, meaning if all meaningful players are off the board before the game, it won't really matter.... I dunno, I'll figure it out....

Ok, looks like the "pick a player" is off to a rough start. I'll be sending out a box one way or another, so let me reformulate the contest.....

I'll either go with the pick a player method for finals or do a small prop bet thing like the PA-Michigander sports LIF. Since my #4 tie breaker seemed to gain traction, I may use that as the primary tie breaker. In any case, I'll mull over the format and re-release the LIF contest closer to when the finals start.

 

I think that with one game down in both finals, we could still have something of a decent little thing going. I'll tally totals minus game 1's to make everything fair-ish. I may amend the tie breaker scenarios, but picking players should be the focus now.

So to answer your question - go ahead and pick someone, then tag next up. We'll see how far we get.
