They use several different brands of bourbon barrels to flavor the base beer then blend them all together so it will be slightly different every year.

Isn't that what every brewery does with ba stouts? the beer is still not a blend of different beers or components, in the way that Anniversary is. Or, like, Abyss

Here is what their website states...

    http://www.firestonebeer.com/beers/products/parabola

Parabola is a beer of darkness and immensity, a barrel-aged beast that is routinely ranked as one of the top beers in the world. This Russian imperial oatmeal stout is aged for a full year in a blend of bourbon barrels from Elijah Craig, Four Roses, Pappy Van Winkle, Woodford Reserve and Buffalo Trace, developing flavors of rich, chewy roasted malts, charred oak and bourbony vanilla. Parabola bares its teeth with its impenetrable black hue and soaring alcohol, yet its bite remains refined with a silky, balanced finish.

Any spottings in Sonoma County yet? Usually we have a 3-4 week delay up here from release at the brewery but these came and gone reports from the South Bay got me sweating a little...

Just picked up some bottles in Seattle. Very excited for my first taste of this beer.

Also, another shipment of Abyss Rye and Cognac versions are out.

They really need to work on a better distribution model for these "Proprieter's Vintage Series" beers. When the limit at the brewery itself is 1 bottle something has to change. For my money and tastes they are the best brewery in the state but if they can't develop a simpler, more creative and convenient way for me to access these beers then…well, I'll buy less of them.

Then again if they're selling out anyway, what reason do they have to listen to me - maybe I'm just spoiled by the convenience of online ordering/sales that seemingly every other brewery (including Barrelworks) have embraced. Having said that, hope I can make it to the Venice location this weekend.

i think it only showed up in fremont for some reason...don't think it's actually made it here to the south bay/peninsula.

It seems to have made an early appearance at one of my local shops in Ventura County but the rest of the shops that will undoubtedly get it have not received distro yet. I dont think Ive ever seen a barrel aged FW brew appear at a local retailer 2 days after a brewery release so this may be some new effort to get some of the product out sooner while the majority of outlets I expect will see the typical 1-3 weeks after brewery release of years past.

Nah, I've seen the boxed Firestone stuff show up on the shelf the following start of the week after the Paso/BW release. It happens. I think the valley was getting it in and it'll be trickling down to other socal places come this week's beer deliveries.
