Would you age this beer? If so, how long?

I've got one from 2008 that I was going to open soon, maybe New Years. Will try to remember to let you know how it is.

I'm planning on doing a full vertical of the Dissident once I pick up the 2016 (minus the 2015 since it was the first odd-year release so I figure just keep it to all the even years). I'll post in the cellar review thread once I do.

Actually was with people who are not real fond of Flanders style beers, so didn't open it yet. Will find the right time soon.

Forgive me, but isn't that beer flash pasteurized? Does aging do anything other than oxidize the beer.

I love that beer, but never thought of aging it.

That's odd given that it, like the rest of the reserve beers from Deschutes, has a best-after date 1yr after its release.

They stopped doing the "best after" dates, starting with (I think) Pinot Suave. Not sure what prompted the change, but they now have "bottled on" dates.

I just noticed that recently. BBXVII had 'best after' but XVIII had 'bottled on'. I wasn't the least bit disappointed heeding the best after date on the XVII, Jubel and Abyss 2015. Actually I've never had these 'fresh' and I hesitate trying them for fear of being underwhelmed! Each one of them greatly impressed me

    I stand corrected....https://www.deschutesbrewery.com/storage-wars-how-age-your-reserve-series-beer/

Here is a blog post straight from the horses mouth about aging the reserve beers.

Just don't tell my wife I was wrong

Man this needs to be pinned to the top of the cellaring forum and will answer 90% of the questions people come and ask week after week. @Rytr good call on actually looking at the brewers site for how they recommend to store their products (which is no different than any other brewers product in principle).

The Dissident was the beer that first got me into sours. I personally think it's great with a few years on it; I've never tried one that was more than 3-4 years old, but I do think it improves over time relative to being fresh.
