    Oh, sorry, that was a bit of my fiction writing - he never said it, but I imagine he's thought it (especially when his "people" aren't watching him carefully, and let him get too close to a computer with internet access and he logs onto BA...:grinning:).

    You know, similar to how a brewer announces that they're discontinuing a beer and the geekery gets all upset and fills the thread with posts like:

    OK, yeah, hmmm...you think that may have something to do with them dropping it?

    * Caution - more fiction.

    Is sam adams ******ed? I just wasted $12 on a six pack of crap. The Flanders is not a flanders. The Berliner is not a berliner. The Belgian golden was actually ok... but who the fuck puts a Belgian golden in a mix 3 pack? And it was the best? Jesus Jim. Drink a real beer some time. Yikes!

    the homebrew contest must be influenced by marketing. no way two sour styles and one Belgian were truly the overall scoring of all the beers entered into the contest

    FWIW there is no doubt in my mind this happens every year recently. I have not bought a 6-pack of Longshot in over 5+ years and I will not likely buy another ever again. Having stated that the beer business is very much about marketing (including 'new and improved' cans) so there we are!?!:confused:

    Cheers!

    I always enjoy Sam Adams sampler packs whenever they come out. And of course I like some better than others. I particularly enjoyed the Old Fezziwig Ale in the Christmas pack this past winter.

    Anyone seen Longshot on the shelves/in the coolers at stores anywhere in the Cleveland, OH area? Been on the lookout for it for a few weeks now and haven't come across it in my area yet. Perhaps SA's distributor in my area hasn't shipped it to stores yet. Thanks.

    Never realized that they brought the brand back. Nor have I seen it in over twenty years.

    I remember buying the Hazelnut variety back in high school, and at the time it was best domestic I had ever tried.

    According to BBC's own Samuel Adams website page for LongShot, the first year they brewed the LongShot beers was twenty years ago in 1996 - and they revived the brand in 2006.
