2016 Surly Darkness

Maybe you were the two Illinois guys right next to us up towards the front (by the Dasani awning) - but I had several bottles taken from my cooler as well: FO, BA Big Sound and Legend of the Liquid Brain. I blame myself (locks or something next year) - but I'd still take a thumb off any the thieves.

 

Is darkness hitting most shelves today? Or tuesday/thursday?

It will be spread out all week, it depends on the distro schedule.

I believe the MGM in Maple Grove has received it on Monday in the past and Casewise in St. Michael gets their Surly delivered on Mondays, so they should have it today as well.

 

That really sucks. I supposed it didn't help that there seemed to always been a descent amount of people at the Dasani awning.

I haven't checked my coolers yet as they were under that awning all night, however, I did bring them in my tent with me when I went to bed.

Ah, I see now, it was 3 and not 4. I had it in my head it was 4:00 for open sales. I was in the 11am group and was long gone by that time.

Good thing I didn't show up until 8 then.

 

I believe beginning last year Darkness was delivered to all stores on Monday instead of the normal Surly distribution day of the week. If that is the same distribution schedule this year we can lock this thread now instead of helping the truck chasers today. Just go to your favorite liquor store today. If your favorite store is named in this thread you are probably screwed & will need to go somewhere else to find Darkness.

 

I don't believe that was the case last year. I know of at least one store that got it after Monday. Plus someone already said that Costco SLP is saying Thursday in this thread.

There was a metric shit-ton that hit stores last year and I don't expect this year to be any different. Sure it won't last for days, but it shouldn't be impossible to pick up. It also seems to last for weeks or longer in rural areas outside of the cities. I had a friend call me because a store up north had almost a case still on the shelf about 1 month or so after it was released to distro.

Is there a BA version like last year that will hit shelves a bit later?

I think the bulk of the major accounts get it on Monday with a trickle out the rest of the week. Last year some of the Costco's got it monday, others later in the week.

Guy from our South Dakota group had his whole cooler ripped off.

I think we may have accidentally left our tent and sleeping bags near our cars and left without them. If anyone has any lead on them, that'd be cool!

 

I feel this is one of the things that gets handled poorly. I think ANYTHING that isn't placed back into cars and picked up gets gathered and tossed in a dumpster. I know I lucked out and saw a guy driving a golf cart and noticed it had some chairs from our group (folded up and in their bags) and I got them back. He let me know anything left unattended gets tossed. They really should make this more clear that "picked up" means placed in cars and put away.
