2016 Surly Darkness

I think I've mentioned before the rum barrel 10 was fire....

 

So on the nitro program calendar, is that draft only or cans? I see cacao bender is listed in jan, I could go for some nitro cans of cacao bender.

 

The cacao bender on nitro was impressively awful at the brewery. First time I almost brought a beer back. Like water.

 

I just ha a sip and thought it was fine but just about everyone ahead of us ordered it. Was rather popular. Rather just have regular cacao.

 

I'd also rather have a regular. Something very well could have been off, I was there right when they put it on. Probs should have sent it back.

 

I had the same experience at first. Gave it another shot down the road and it wasn't watery that time around.

Surly posted a video on IG about BA Darkness being removed from the barrel and going into the tank. Hopefully it'll be in bottles soon.

 

Wonder how long it was in barrels for, though last year's three months BA Darkness was ridiculously good.

 

Regular Darkness still on shelves in Rochester if anyone is looking for some. $22-28/bottle depending on where you go

 

Safe to assume the BA version will not see the same distro as regular? May have to plan a trip to see the parents in February!!...haha

 

BA hit Iowa last year, just hard to get. I know it's on deck for the barrel aged beer brunch at Bait Shop 2/4

 

Looks like BA Darkness is waxed and out in some hands. Per facebook.....

 

The people volunteering to dip get bottles and were posting them. Assuming distro soon!

 

I know it's not going to happen, but could you imagine the fury if all BA Darkness was in stores on Sat when everyone is at CW and Lift Bridge.

same as last year. It has the gold and black with same artwork. and the "BARREL AGED" banner on top. I am not able to post a pic as I am not having any luck with photo bucket. If anyone has a better APP, let me know. Cheers

I talked with a Surly rep in Omaha this past Monday night and he said Omaha would be getting it on Feb 6th. Reading between the lines it seemed like it would be released everywhere on Feb 6th. He said bottles should be difficult but not impossible to get around Omaha but only a keg or two would make it NE.
