Princeton's said they got 10 cases of it. He said that apparently he could have got more had he asked for it.

That said, it was going somewhat fast when I stopped in about 10:10am. 3 cases were emptied for sure.

It sure seems like from what I have been hearing that there is more of it out there but I still think it will disappear pretty fast. It's a great beer and that is no secret. I would say if a place puts it on the shelves it will be gone within an hour or so depending on how much they have.

Liquor barrel golden valley is out. Over 5 people walked in asking for it while I was there then rushing out the door after being told no, lol. MGM had at least a case left. Golden valley byerlys had the phone ringing off the hook and both employees said they can't stand surly darkness. There were 4btl left after mine.

I'm not seeing where there is a bunch more this year to the point it will linger around.

10 cases of BA Darkness at most Rochester liquor stores. Two bottle limit. Costco getting it tomorrow. Should be $5-10 cheaper

Whats up with the "three-months plus" aging? Does anyone think it is way over 3 months? Or is 3 months pretty close?

I heard 5 months which is a fair bit less than last year and a lot less than most sought after BA stouts, which typically see a full year in barrels.

How than they justify the price point for 5 months of aging? Seems a little overpriced.

Are you the barrel aging police?

By overpriced do you mean $3-$4/bomber more than what regular Darkness runs? Those thieves, how dare they!

Had one tonight and the reduced aging time shows. Still tasty, but seems closer to '14 than '15 IMO.

Right, because $18-$20 for Darkness is totally a reasonable price for an RIS in the first place. Not that I didn't buy one this year, but it is priced quite high for what it is. I can't think of another brewery that marks up seasonal bombers the way that Surly does. Pentagram anyone?

The same downtown hotel rooms that are going for $149 tonight will be $750 or more a night during the Super Bowl next year. How will they justify that? Well, because they will still sellout at that price.

    Supply vs. Demand.

Just as Abrasive is now being found for $9/4pk in a saturated market, prices for BA Darkness will also drop when you see it sitting around for 4-5+ months.

That said, based on the responses in this thread, I don't see that happening this year.

Avery typically ages their barrel beers for 3-4 months. You can get plenty of bourbon taste without going a full year.

I agree with this point when it is an IPA that sits for months, they generally drop the price.....but with stouts that can age, I generally never see price reductions on those.....
