2017 FOBAB

I've had a good number of Bruery stouts which approach 20%, and I love them. It's just a matter of taste.

 

I understand that “not listed” doesn’t mean it won’t be there, but I would be disappointed if the Reserve (Knob Creek) didn’t show up. From a friend that has tried the set, this is a highlight. I will stay cautiously optimistic as all BCBS has been there in the past. If there are truly only 10 bbls of Double Barrel BCBS made and keg only, this will be my shot. I hope they go back to 2 lines like 2 yrs ago. That lined moved so nicely.

 

I've had a number of The Bruery's stouts and found most of them to be really hot for my palate and I also really enjoy bourbon.

 

I find those high octane Bruery beers need a minimum of 2 years. However, at the 3-4 year mark the become sublime (looking at you, Black Tuesday).

 

So were the VIP, hour early tickets available this year? I tried to find them when I got my tickets and didn't see them.

Has anyone ever lined up for the Saturday early session general admission? I know the doors open at 1pm and everyone files in but curious what time people have started lining up in past years?

 

At 11/1130, the Imbibe line will be longer than the GA line. As you mention though, the GA line will not be moving for another hour later of course.

 

In the past we've always tried to get there between 12 and 12:30 and we're usually around the corner. Last year I think we got there closer to 12:45 and we were around the corner in a spiral of people underneath the roofed in area about halfway down Rochford.

 

Any FOBAB pre-events around Chicago anyone has heard of?

 

How pre are you referring. There's a separate BA tasting on Wednesday before (I think it is wednesday, anyway). Not sure which days you are asking, though.

 

Any and all. I heard bars, stores and breweries around the city have BA events in the weeks leading up to fobab

 

Beer Temple has an event 11/8.
Binny's has an event 11/8 (Need to buy tickets).
Lucky Dorr has an event 11/8.

On a side note, I had rum jumbie Buckley, BA Hunter, BA End of Days, and the new Mikerphone raspberry innocent criminal (and maybe a few other beers...) at Green Lady last night. This is part of my training for FoBAB. I’m sore this morning, but functional - which I hope is the sign of a good workout.
