It was fun. The taproom was pretty crowded, and there were a few people outside, but I felt like it was a pretty quiet release. The beers on tap were great. I think Drunken is better this year and drinking great right now, but I still wish it had more coffee. Didn't try the base Daylight, but the Coco Vanilla was very tasty (heavier on coffee this year for me).

I also thought the Crimson Lake on draft was by far the best BA sour these guys have done. Not the most complex sour, but great tartness and raspberry flavor.

Citraspective is delicious and crushable. I bought plenty of it. I thought Nightcap is a solid porter, but I'm still not convinced there is any cherry or vanilla in the beer. "Subtle" is the word the bartender used for Nightcap, but I thought that was an understatement.

All in all, it was a great time!

    • Flannel Update: Whereas it was our goal to have these out before the end of winter, the order has taken substantively longer than anticipated. Due to the size of the order and the embroidering aspect, we are still waiting on an estimated time of arrival.

I wholeheartedly agree and really don't understand the delay even with the reasoning of there roughly +/- 250 members. I even said last Fall chances are these Flannels were not going to be ready before temps warmed up. I can sort of understand the Squealer delay last year of those not being available until mid-March. Shine is a small company and each vessel is hand dipped and printed/stamped. I get they have others to accommodate as well and that many Squealers order from a single customer is a lot. The Flannels on the other hand are from a much larger company that probably have hundreds upon hundreds (maybe thousands) easily accessible to them or can be order from their supplier very quickly. The embroidery is a bs excuse to use. Once it's programmed into the machine the company can probably pump those out at a very fast pace. The deadline for those to request refunds for this year's membership was Dec. 31st so the flannels should have been ordered within the first couple weeks of the new year after the refund period closed. It's simple. place order for XXX # of shirts in the sizes requested with the exact same graphics. I understand Bros had a lot going on at the start of the year, and still does, but they sent out that email in January saying if anyone needed a size change to let them know by January 31st. Since that was the case I am betting the shirts were not even order until mid-February. They should have never even allowed this leniency. Whatever the membership and shirts sizes selected were on Jan 1st that should have been what they went with. Would have cut an easy 4-6 weeks off the delay. Next year they should do away with all items completely unless it is something easily obtained. Just add extra bottles for the members if they have the capacity to do so. Any merch items they can offer as a extra purchase just like with the YOpeners and Spiegelau glass. Just my $.02.

We are now taking pre-orders for Aggregate Species, Ceresia, Raspis, Heaven's River, Astronaut Ice Cream and the 4th can release! All of these offerings are on schedule for a May 26 release!!
    • Aggregate Species, Ceresia, Raspis, Heaven's River, and Astronaut Ice Cream will all be member exclusive bottles. The first round of pre-orders will be at 2 bottles per member starting today and ending on Wednesday, May 17 at 16:00 EST. The remaining bottles will then be put up on a first come, first serve basis without any bottle limits. This second round of pre-orders will end on Wednesday, May 24 at 16:00 EST or once all of the bottles are sold, whichever comes first.
    - Aggregate Species is a collection of ingredients and flavors, coming together to form a cohesive but intricate beer. A Brown Sour Ale at its core, Aggregate Species features blackberries and currants to complement the gentle malt notes found in each sip. With a collection of dark fruit supplementing this delicately sour ale, Aggregate Species is a beer that is greater than the sum of its parts. 7.0% ABV

    - Latin for "cherry," Ceresia is a red sour ale aged on that most decadent of fruits. Featuring a playfully tart body, this ale adds sharp, sweet, and sugary notes from its aging process with cherries. Sour connoisseurs will immediately appreciate Ceresia's tart character, while newcomers will be welcomed in by its fruity balance. Ceresia is a field in full bloom, bearing fruits to celebrate the season's bounty. 5.5%ABV

    - Dead languages can inspire very lively beers. Raspis is a Brown Sour Ale named after the Latin word for "raspberry," which this beer knows a lot about; it's flavored with heaps of them, after all. Full of sharp and zesty flavor and flowing with dark and cloudy fruit, Raspis is complex and worthy of your time, much like the language it pays homage to. Respect thy etymological elders, drink good beer. 6.5% ABV

    - The Milky Way, in all its vast expanses, is known as the River of Heaven in Japanese folklore. When we look up at night, we can’t disagree with their interpretation. Based off of our galactic Great Debate, Heaven’s River is an Imperial Milk Stout featuring chocolate, rich creaminess, and a subtle background sweetness accentuated with flavors of coffee and coconut. Let the river flow, from our taproom to your glass. 8.5% ABV

NASA astronauts are banned from drinking alcohol in space. While we understand the need to stay sober in orbit, we think that some Astronaut Ice Cream could go a long way while your feet are firmly planted on the ground. Based off of our cosmic Great Debate, Astronaut Ice Cream is an Imperial Milk Stout with flavors of chocolate, rich creaminess, and a subtle background sweetness accentuated with flavors of raspberry and almond. It won’t take you to space, but it will help get your head in the clouds. 8.5% ABV

Rye Hard- Welcome to the party, pals! Fresh off their expansion to Richmond, Virginia, Stone Craft Brewing and Brothers Craft Brewing have teamed up to create Rye Hard, a Rye India Pale Ale that makes us want to yell "Yippie ki-yay." With the hoppy flavors you've come to expect from a Brothers or Stone IPA, we've added rye to the mashing process to add some spice to your drink. Come to the brewery, we'll get together, have a few laughs.
    6.4% ABV

Gosecolada- If you like Gosecolada, and mashing all those grains
If you're not into lagers, but see a Gose and can't abstain...

Alright, we'll stop there as we're sure the song is now firmly stuck in your head. For a distraction, it might help to drink a Gosecolada, a new collaboration between Brothers Craft Brewing and our friends Trophy Brewing out of Raleigh, North Carolina. If you hadn't already guessed it, Gosecolada is a Pineapple Coconut Gose, with a tropical breeze flowing through the expected sour and malty body of a traditional Gose. It's the love you looked for, go with it and escape.

Been a while since someone posted here but in case you have not seen the emails the brewery has sent remember MONDAY (July 3rd) is the deadline to pick up first half bottles. Anything not picked up by then will be placed out for public sale or put in their cellar. If you purchased something there will be NO REFUND GIVEN per Bros.

Anyone who is making the trip, Bros is releasing their 5 can collaboration set this weekend as well. Long Distance Relationship Belgian Wit w/ Blueberries (collab w/ Starr Hill) and their own Hallelujah IPA.

Pretty much the same thing happened last year. There was probably a 3+ month gap between bottle ordering/announcement from Spring/Summer to Fall. I am surprise they have not at least sent a "Welcome to the 2nd Half" email out. I think that would have been a nice thing to do. Thank us again for being members, address/update the shipping and give update on flannels. I know some of this has been addressed in the fb group but it's nice for something formal to be sent out. I would expect some sort of email to be sent out by the end of the month. Probably just like like year when they sent out an email with some Resolute Day info and mentioned opening up of membership for next year.

As for can pre-ordering I think that is a mute point. As someone pointed out the cans have been available at the brewery for a month after release for many of them so not doing pre-orders is just one less thing they have to deal with and handle people complaining at the last minute when they can't make it to the brewery by the 2 week deadline to pick up something they've already paid for and will not receive a refund. Based on availability I completely understand that even though it was nice having the option of ordering.

Re: the cans, I still don't understand why if you bought the cans but can't make the pickup deadline, they won't let you take them if you come by to do a later bottle pickup and they're still in stock. I had this situation and asked, but was told it wasn't possible.

Agreed. That I don't understand. If you purchased cans but cannot make the 2 week pickup and there are still cans when you do get around to showing up then you should be able to walk away with them since they have already been paid for. The brewery would not necessarily be holding anything back, other than what they cannot sell through, beyond the 2 weeks which we have already seen they are not selling through that quickly.

The fb group had a good stream of comments on there over the weekend and Adam actually responded quite a bit. The brewery also said to reach out directly with questions in case the issue is not brought up in person. Adam also linked to some preliminary 2018 membership info. Cost will remain the same for next year.
