2017 New Glarus Thread

Yeah, this has already been in effect for some time. Strawberry Rhubarb was the first to transition and Raspberry Tart was the next.The former is long gone from shelves but the latter was at FIBman's when I was there a few weeks ago. No idea if it is still there.

 

Not sure if this is normal but today they had a lot of R&D bottles for sale. I got a 15 and a 16 as well as a champ du Blanc and champ du rouge

 

Not normal but a great deal. I walked out of there yesterday with 6 different R&D's myself. Not bad for only my second trip ever there.

 

There was a brief window back in the day when NG always had R&D's available, namely 2009 Golden Ale and 2010 Two Women Lager (original 500ml bottles). I think they thought the 2010 Gueuze and Bourbon Barrel Kriek would hang around for a while, but they sold out immediately (as did 2012 Sour Ale, 2013 Sour Fruit, 2014 Wild Peach IIRC). Wild Bitter had some availability through 2015, but now it seems like they have enough R&D stock to have something available all the time. Certainly a nice treat when visiting the brewery.

 

Hopefully they still have em on Sunday. I'd love to swing by omw back from Central Waters

 

Wait, they have the R&D beers for sale? Oh, boy. I've got Thursday off of work, it is sorly tempting to finally make the 5 1/2 hour drive there.

 

I'm heading to Madison (from South Dakota) for a job interview tomorrow. Anybody know which R&D beers are still available in the depot?

 

There 7 available as of yesterday afternoon.

 

What did they say when you called?

 

I was there Saturday. Grabbed Vintage 2015, Vintage 2016 and Champ du Blanc. I remember seeing Sour Porter and two others that I can't recall.

 

Champ Rouge and Pommier Sauvage, probably.

I still don't understand the response telling people to call NG. I've probably only called them 8 times over the years but I've never actually had anyone pick up (and yes I was calling during regular business hours).

 

Edel Pils will be coming back for New Glarus' 25th Anniversary next year.

I would love to drink lots of it, but I'd have to guess at this point that it will be the 2018 Brewery Only release. Yokel, Hometown Blonde, ... it kinda fits the pattern, although it's hard to draw a conclusive pattern from only two beers. That said, I'm guessing there'll be some other interesting things for the 25th Anniversary. I have a couple for 20th Anniversary Beers left - need to see how they're holding up.

 

I think it'll be released statewide. It was the first beer they brewed and I don't think they'll keep it brewery-only.

This was released state-wide, so again, I think Edel Pils will be too.

 

I would expect a one-off, 25th Anniversary beer to released state-wide.
