New Glarus, even the fruits and Thumbprints, can be found in gas stations in Wisconsin, so finding what he wants will be beyond easy.

He should go to Woodman's West Towne, Riley's Wines of the World, and Steve's on University, in order of importance (though Steve's is between Woodman's and Riley's).

Other good options include the other Steve's locations, Woodman's East Towne, Trixie's (bonus Growler Gallery), Jenifer Street Market, and Star Liquor.

Also, unrelated to NG, but Funk Factory has to-go bottles of Meerts variants if you or he is interested.

Dan isn't really into BA beers. Fruit beers are an exception (understandable).

Sounds like you missed out on Iced Barleywine, Barleywine - Thumbprint, and Tailwagger. Of the 3, Tailwagger was my favorite.

Imo, NG should stick to and emphasize their fruit beers. The more the merrier for me.

Has the beer depot ever put anything special out for Thanksgiving or Christmas?

Just to follow up on this my buddy got me 1 of each of mango/passionfruit meerts, cherry meerts, and cervino plus a 4 pack of raspberry tart thanks to your advice! Appreciate it.

Am I the only one wondering what the 2018 NG release schedule will look like?? Maybe it's just me, but hoping they skip the Spotted Cow Grand Cru and Apple Ale.

I would kill for four Thumbprints that haven't been made in the last two years.

All great beers, but I was really hoping for something a little different. I'm not upset though because I do love all four of them.

What state wouldn't kill to have a spontaneous fruited wild on every shelf for <$12 a four-pack?

Gotta keep it in perspective, I suppose.

I agree with you to a point. For me, I'd love to see them re-visit some of the Thumbprints that were brewed once and not re-visited, like the Smoked Rye Bock and Bohemian Lager, to mention a few.

That said, I just don't know how much some of those would sell, and while this is odd to say given what they've done with the Riverside location, I think they are now quite conservative with 99% of their beer they produce. They're too big and have too much invested to take a risk on such a scale.

Or how about they bring back that Iced Barleywine (if I'm remembering that correctly). That was tasty back in the day.

Here, here! I'd love for them to revisit that or Tail Wagger as I missed out on both of them. Fat Squirrel is always nice to have as an option when out around town.

Perhaps I am being pessimistic, but NG has largely done “copy + paste” on Thumbprints for the last couple of years. (Unless you count Spiced Ale, Dubbel, or Milk Stout as being exciting and new). ... Thumbprints are clearly no longer a focus point of the brewery. I remember I was buying cases at Woodman’s every trip to WI in previous years. Now I can’t remember the last one I bought more than a single of, outside of Cranbic and Enigma.

Anyone still drinking Cranbic from last year? How is it holding up?

I’ve got a few in the basement I was planning on pulling one out soon. I was bummed they didn’t have it this year.

Had 1 each from last year and 2014 the other week...both are holding up well. They're pasteurized so won't really change, and oxidation didn't seem to impart on either year yet.

This has been my complaint for awhile. Ever since they went employee-owned there has clearly been a tighter focus on profit, as evidenced by the lack of innovation in the Thumbprints and decline in quality/increase in price of the R&Ds.
