I dumped my last random can of 2017 a week ago. Not good at all. Had been kept at cellar (not fridge) temps.

Don’t recall having issues with my 2016 cans.

Somewhat surprised it has taken so long for a thread to pop up about this. This happened to mine as well. First can had this sour twang to it, really no rum presence at all. Hoped it was just a fluke but the next can was the same thing. Took a sip of the 3rd can, same thing. Dumped it and the last can.

Weren't there some reports of 2016 developing a metalic flavor?

Luckily I only bought 1 pack this year. I still have like 10 or so cans from last year, thought I haven't opened any since around the release.

I've had the same experience, with both 16' and 17' cans stored at fridge temps. I feel it was good for maybe the first month and then falls. We opened a (2015?) bomber a month or so ago and that has faded badly as well, but to be expected I guess.

Well this is disappointing to hear. I've never especially liked this beer (not a big fan of rum BA stouts in general), so I haven't even tried the '17 cans. But I've been giving them out as extras in trades. Shoot.

They didn't go sour. They started that way.

I must have had mine fresh, because it was amazing. Good thing I drank it right away.

I recently drank both a 16 and 17 and both were fine, the 16 was tasting really great. No issues here.

Cans this year did seem off don't have any left for confirmation. Had it on tap not that log ago at Indeed and was still drinking well. Not sure about how they did the packaging. Still see some on the shelf from time to time as well so if they do have issues hopefully someone starts to pull them.

Huh tried a 17 can last night seemed just fine to me. Tastes better than 16 cans did around this time last year. 16 cans have a slight metallic aftertaste now I think.

I just plain stopped buying Rum King after 2016. Bought 1 4pk that year still have 2 left.

This looks to be a problem, I wonder what Indeed's response will be to this?

    Drink it fresh?

Since the 1st bottling, Rum King has never aged well.

Has anyone with sour can's contacted Indeed or let them know about this thread? If they are not made aware, Indeed probably won't do or say anything.

I take it that it didn't turn sour in a good way? Sometimes these sort of things can turn into happy accidents.

    If I pay for a barrel-aged stout, I want a barrel-aged stout.

A "Sour Stout" is what I imagine Charon hands you as you step onto the ferry over the river Styx.
