Has anyone seen 2018 Rumpkin on sale near the Saint Louis area? I’m looking for it to complete a vertical and could not find it at any of the beer finder stores on Avery Brewing website. I was also told by a liquor store employee in STL that the 2018 won’t be distributed until next year. Not sure I’m getting good info.
Your information may actually be correct. My Avery distributor's current sell sheet lists 2017 Rumpkin as a new release, no sign of 2018. I'll shoot them an email to see if I can find anything out for you.
Well upon looking into it further, I learned that Avery did indeed brew up a 2018 batch. However my Avery distributor said they didn't even bother buying any this year, as they still have 16' and 17' sitting in their warehouse. I'm guessing that it may be the same issue for your stores distributor as well.
While I like Rum BA beers, like pumpkin beers, like sweet beers, and like Avery BA beers in general - I find it difficult to drink Rumpkin due to the extreme sweetness. Rumpkin is beyond cloying - it's like they filled the bottle with sugar and then poured in as much RBA pumpkin beer as the sugar would absorb. I much prefer Avery Pump[KY]n. Too bad it was a one-off. If you find Pump[KY]n on the shelf, snap it all up.
Pump[KY]n definitely wasn’t a one-off as i have 2015 and 2016 bottles in my fridge right now. this website also has 4 vintages listed since 2014, which would bring us to last year.
I mispoke - not one-off, since it was part of their annual series, but has been discontinued. At least for now - bet it reappears eventually.
