I was drinking a Joyeux Noel from Diebolt the other day (biere de garde not WW) and it got me thinking, man it's about that time to start seeking a few out. Of course there's the standard Odell Isolation, Avery Old Jubilation, & Great Divide Hibernation, but any others people have tried lately or keeping an eye out for this year? I really miss Upslope's and RIP Ugly Sweater from Wit's End. Also I'm all about Biere De Garde/Abby ale styles too if you wanna go that route. Cheers! Ben
Harder to find these days but I really like Scaldis Noel (Belgium import). Twisted Pine Northstar Imperial Porter was always a fave but if they still brew it, ya have to go to the brewery in Boulder to get it. And I still have a soft spot for Bristol Winter Warlock.
Hibernation is as good as ever. It's always my favorite of the CO. "ion" beers. I'd even put it in my all-time top beers list. Old Jubilation is good, but a little different tasting this year. It's super clean without much yeast character. It reminds me of a doppelbock...which is fine, but it's atypical for that beer. The Bull & Bush Yule Fuel is barrel-aged this year and they're calling it the "Yule Log" edition. I'm not sure what kind of barrel, but it's a whisk(e)y of some sort and it tastes exactly as you'd expect.
Equinox’s Midwinter Warmer is a great barley wine. Haven’t had it this year, but its consistently been a favorite of mines scents I’ve been aware of its existence
the amount of ‘ION’ beers on shelves is ridiculous right now hahahah... that said there’s quite a few great ones. Took your advice on the Hibernation and really couldn’t be happier with it
That's one of those ones I love a single bottle of, but drinking a full 6-pack is tough. That's usually one either me or K-dizzle will order at Old Chicago to get our fix and then move on.
Not sure how hard it is to find, but just a heads up it's at Grape Expectations right now (BBomb & Dark Star)
