3 Floyds Brewing (2019)

I opened one very recently. Standard Dark Lord to me: sweet as hell and lots of burnt sugar.

 

Mine just tasted like a mouthful of pennies. Had to dump

 

Had a variant share from this year recently and all were great beers. No off tastes. Wonder if it’s just regular.

 

Can you elaborate on what you are getting that is pointing to off flavors?

 

As i said above tasted like pennies. Didnt have any resemblance of DL at all. Guessing oxidized maybe? Noticed the wax had a little play around neck of bottle but not sure that means anything.

 

Time for me to come clean. I found your bottle, futzed with the cap a bit & poured pure Mikerphone social media tone-deafness directly into the liquid.

It wasn't the right thing to do, but it's what I did. I apologize.

 

Wish you wouldn’t have. The aftertaste in my mouth is gross as shit and wont go away no matter what. If my variants fucked up Im gonna be pissed

 

Drink yo variants now. Have never understood why people keep these to age, they almost always turn for the worse.

All jokes aside I STILL have a nasty weird aftertaste in my mouth after drinking the beer. Hard to describe other then kinda metallic. And this is after mouthwash toothpaste food and drink. Never had this happen before

 

I opened one at the Blink/Weezy tailgate. Found it quite tasty and smoothly easy to drink. Was gone too fast between 4 of us.

 

I thought this year's DL was notably worse than past years. No off flavors, just not as deep or complex. It's missing the "umami" flavor that it has had in the past. I know that flavor tends to develop more with age, but it's usually there (to a lesser degree) when fresh.

 

Yeah, I just popped my 2nd last Thursday and it was classic DL. Sweet as candy. Burnt sugar as someone said. I’m actually quite fond of this vintage.

Maybe a one off bad bottle?

 

Maybe they're trying to get away from that what with so many people "mistaking" it for soy sauce...

3 Floyds must have made a metric ton of BA Behemoth and Pillar of Beasts. Those have both been available since well both DLD. Considering the price point that is typically associated with their BA beers, this is even more surprising.

 

Pillar of Beast came out in October 2018... Those beers are priced t0o high which is why they are sitting. 2015, there aren't alternatives. Now, take your pick.

 

And Geordannay has been around for a LONG time too..
