I'll be buying more Permanent Funeral before it disappears again.

Slightly disappointed by Perm Funeral. It’s good beer but this batch is proof that floyds refuses to update their recipes. They are stuck in their ways and refuse to update their recipes towards today’s pallete.
I’ve found a few breweries in the Chicagoland area who have decided to make better versions of three floyds and at a lower price point. I wish FFF would update their processes and show they are leaders in the industry.

Now this thought I can’t disagree more with. I can’t get enough of this batch of PF. It’s more than excellent.

It’s good. I like the beer.

    BUT

I’ve had beer from pipeworks and penrose that recently owned this beer

I’m a PWs homer, so I won’t argue that point (Penrose IPAs are a different story). I mean, NvU may be my favorite Chicago beer. But I am curious which PW beer you are referring to now.

If you update a recipe, how is it even the same beer? That's just stupid.

Cryo Mosaic Ninja blows Funeral away. The new penrose ipa called Timber is a 7% that’s built the same way also. Check it out

No. You must be new here. I kid, I kid.

It’s good beer, It’s not flawed. Just doesn’t jump out of the glass like other similar beers on the market. If I’m paying top dollar for a hop experience, I’ll go elsewhere. 15 bucks for 48oz of beer is expensive. Especially considering we all know how much freshness affects certain beer from floyds

Stopped in a local store to pick up more Permanent Funeral. It wasn't available. Saw Broo Doo and caved. It ain't no Permanent Funeral...

Ain't bad. It just has like a sweet tea quality about it the more I drink it. Still, should've saved the bucks for PF if I could go back in time.

Maybe a souped up Gumball Head? Been a while since I've had that one, too. Good either way, just wasn't what I was after.

    el oh el.

Recipes are always being updated. Hops change. Hop contracts / Availability changes. Adjustments are made. Even Chicago’s most famous ipa, antihero. Another good example is HA Vallejo. Went through several edits as Nelson hops became too expensive for a 9.99 beer.

Again, not the same beer. Changing a Nelson beer to a non-Nelson beer but calling it the same thing is a bait and switch and a loss of this customer.

Agreed. Dialing in a recipe is different than changing major players in it.

Permanent Funeral has always been one of my favorite 3 Floyds beers. Picked up a 4 pack over the weekend. Loved it. Please don't change.

PF was as excellent as i remember. If they would have changed the recipe significantly I would have wept in my glass....
