I’m in the same boat. Have you found a reliable way to cap/ reseal cans without them going flat? I have a large back log of BA beers in cans that I would love to drink over two evenings…

If anyone finds a good solution to this, I'd love to hear it. I've had people say they pour it into a vacuum sealed yeti, but that doesn't seem to work for me. (Once it is poured, it seems like that's it. It's been disturbed. Or maybe I've just had a bad experience.) Covering it, no bueno.

I'm not judging anyone else on here for what they do, so I hope no one takes it that way. Everyone manages things differently, and that's fine. What works for me doesn't work for you, and vise-versa. -Personally, for me, one of the reasons that I want to be able to split these across nights is because I just want to make sure I can always drive (yes, when I am always at home) in case there's an emergency. I don't want to have to be like, "oh, babe, I'm sorry our 2.5 year old just started vomiting due to an allergic reaction. I'm going to need you to drive, I'm just not feeling up to it." I just don't want to be in that position. If it's a get-together or a holiday or something else like that, and we've already talked about who is going to drink, that's something else. But on any particular night that I want to have a drink, I don't want it to just be a surprise (because I am often waiting to drink until after my daughter is asleep) that I can't be there 100%.

We have stoppers with a tool that removes air. It works well for bottles, but the cans I just cap as well as I'm able and drink them the next night. It's not the greatest, but it works fine for a day or maybe two.

If I open a can, all those fluid ounces are going in my body. I just recap bottles with a capping tool.

I have a champagne stopper for bottles, just thinking about the can. It would be nice not to have to always finish the can. Yup.

For regular bottles & bombers I have found this tool works quite well. It creates a good seal and will keep at least some carbonation for a couple days, and it doubles as an opener.

    https://www.amazon.com/Westmark-Germany-Hermetus-Resealer-Bottle/dp/B0010AWH2I

For the thicker champagne style bottles (500ml & 750ml), something like this works well:

    https://www.amazon.com/Champagne-BGMAX-Stainless-Sparkling-Accessories/dp/B07DHJWP7C

For drinking the next day these work great, maybe even 2 days. I've always heard you should not use the wine tools that pump out the air as it also ends up removing more CO2 at the same time. Those tools are meant for flat beverages.

For cans I have tried these: https://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Soda-Can-Lids-pack/dp/B07GBKG6GJ

They work ok but not great. For a high ABV stout that can stand to lose carbonation and still be good they get the job done.

thanks ! I use the hermetus resealer and champagne stopper ( The Franmara stoppers are the best imo). Cans are a tough one though. I may try @Beer_Economicus ’s suggestion of a vacuum sealed Yeti tumbler though

@kodt and I have identical approaches except for the cans. I don't recall who on BA recommended the Hermetus, but that thing is bad ass - any bottle smaller than a 750 it works amazing. It's also just a great bottle opener. For cans I go with a small piece of plastic wrap and a rubber band. It ain't pretty, but it gets the job done on the rare occasion I don't finish a can. Thankfully BA Ten Fidy ditched those freaking stove pipes.

On the Crushing Mass front, saw it at both Bloomingdale and Glen Elyn Binny's this weekend. Both priced $27.99. I just assumed $24.99 was the universal Binny's price?

I was really happy with the 2020 FVM. My 17 was most certainly infected and a drain pour once I got around to it. This was incredibly tasty. Perfect beer? Certainly not. Enjoyable nevertheless and the coffee was still VERY present in the beer. Flavor was actually similar to Crushing Mass but the FVM felt thicker and more decadent.

All of this brings me to the conclusion given an exchange of hard earned dollars I'd reach for Crushing Mass first as a Beacon of glorious value. :grimacing: Still, quite happy to revisit FVM and have gotten to enjoy it on its own merits this time without letting the drain do all of the hard work.

I always keep any empty BCBS bottle. Simply pour in the can's leftovers into the bottle and use the Hermetus sealer. Good to go for the next day or two.

Definitely a pastry bw. I haven’t had the regular Pillars, but I’m getting minimal if any coconut from this variant. Sweet and sugary beverage. Nice warming quality from the disguised abv. Easy drinking. I’m neutral on it. I’d be fine with a single of this beer, not sure it’s interesting enough for a 4 pack

The sweetness of a barleywine is a perfect compliment to pastry flavors. It’s just a matter of do you want a beer or a dessert?
