Battle Priest was not what I was hoping for.

I'm late to the game, but Cocomungo is very good. Complimentary and noticeable amount of coconut without overpowering the base, which you could tell has a good amount of barrel presence. It's sweet, but not over the top sweet either from the coconut additive. It's not exactly a Mounds bar like Coconut Vibes and it's not Banana Boat lotion/fake coconut like many others. An impressive beer overall.

Got to hand it to 3Floyds. Releasing quality barrel-aged beers in preferred bottle format, at good price point and accessibility (no hype) is awesome. Let's see/hope more barrel aged beer releases come in this format out of 3Floyds moving forward. I can see cinnamon or vanilla being in queue if they do decide to release another barrel aged offering like this.

Just a FYI for folks and speaking from experience: Crushing Mass and Cocomungo are both over 15% ABV!

I would endorse a regular rotation of 15% BA stouts joining fff’s otherwise stale beer rotation.

Speed Castle just hit my local shop. Bout to see what our pilsner/lager/all things german/European overlords have produced. With their history, putting this in the year round lineup is a great move

Love Speed Castle. Just typical subtle flex by FFF

Had my first Cocomungo last night.

Neither of the coconut Dark Lord variants are this good.

If a beer like this was released in 2012 it would have instantaneously become a ghost whale. In 2022, no one bats an eye at a limited distro 4 pack.

Really hoping I see Cocomungo, but haven't seen it his Cincinnati. If not, hoping when I visit Indiana in the next 2 weeks I'll find some.

It's pretty good. I will confirm that! Crushing mass was also stellar! This is coming from someone who has not bought a single beer from 3 Floyds since 2011. These barrel aged stout 4 packs are straight money!

I was expecting it to be less impressive than Crushing Mass--surely they couldn't hit two homers in a row and the coconut must have been added to mask something--but damn, I liked it even more, and the barrel is surprisingly mature and present for them to just be dropping 4 pack bombs like this all of a sudden.

I would put both crushing mass and cocomungo on the same level; very impressed by both to my surprise. my rating scores are also nearly identical with a difference of 0.02. Yeah they hit two homeruns in a row. I totally agree with you!

Let's hope they continue the 4-pack barrel aged imperial stout 'series' with different adjuncts too, and maybe (wishful thinking but really hoping) for a non-adjunct barrel aged 4-pack as well.

They’ve hit a lot of homers in a row. Throw out seasonal BA Behemoth and BA Blot Out the Sun which are legacy brews they seem to be okay with and the last 4 BA 4 pack beers in the big abv vein have been epic- Crushing Mass, Cocomungo, Blurple Ghatti and Yella Rhari. Not to mention the howlers of Dismembers Only which was unique and had world class flavors, but probably would have been everybit as polarizing to the masses as Temeculon 3000 or Mr. Biggleswade.

Agree with all the above comments and would love to see a non adjuncted version of this stout. Or a rye BA version. The base is just so damn good.

I was concerned going in with Cocomungo because it has maple (tends to dominate a lot of stouts). But they balanced it out perfectly imo.

Never got my hands on Blurple and Yella, I keep incorrectly assuming they are sours. How were they? I've had a lot of less than stellar white or "pale" stouts.

I enjoyed this recent BA Blot though not near the level of Crushing Mass and Cocomungo.
I honestly didn't detect much of the maple (didn't even realize it was part of the mix untill halfway thru my glass) but like you said it doesn't really need more of it anyway.
