3 Floyds Brewing (2023)

I thought it was some inside joke that I didn't understand...

This would fucking suck. We already get so few freshies these days, would be a big loss to lose one of the best.

 

You're telling me I'm waiting to try this for the first time ever, and also the last? Ffs

 

Maybe the last as a seasonal, but we’ll see it again. Probably in next falls variety pack? They brought back Pride and Joy in a variety pack so never say never. Plus FFF either isn’t truthful or they haven’t figured out their plans half the time. Chicago brewpub, massive FFF brewpub complex , permanently shuttering the brewpub, etc. lots of what they say doesn’t pan out.

 

Personally, I can’t wait until the new brewpub burns to the ground.

 

I bet Fifty/50 is going to be real upset when the new brewpub gets destroyed by a fire.

 

Wonder if Three Floyd’s brewpub will now be open for 6am breakfast and coffee and serve Quad City style pizza…

 

Signed me up for the biscuits and gravy with vintage Dark Lord reduction sauce.

 

Finally tracked down Broo Doo (my favorite annual midwest fresh hop; paging @SeanBond). It’s as good as ever. Hopefully it hits more spots soon, but Beer on the Wall is the only spot within 20 minutes of me I’ve seen it. So I snagged the only 6 pack and 3 singles they had. Sorry not sorry.

 

Open Bottle is also saying this is the last release of Broo Doo, so this must be something they are telling their retailers.

Maybe we could hold out hope it will be a brewpub only release in the future if nothing else.

 

I did hear that they couldn't source the hops from the same farm as in the past, because that farm is no longer in business, so they got them from Howe Farms. Probably unrelated, but who knows.

Broo Doo is one of my favorites. I'll give Nick Floyd a call and see what's going on.

 

Excerpts below from an article in this morning's NWI Times...no mention of enhanced fire-suppression systems.

“3 Floyds is seeking to renovate and expand their existing 2,887 square-foot taproom. The interior renovation will see upgrades to the existing kitchen and bar and associated equipment. The dining room will feature improved family dining as well as 21-and-up seating areas that highlight and showcase the unique personality of 3 Floyds.”

Renderings submitted to the town include a fireplace, a video arcade, pinball machines, and a knight’s armor and life-sized stormtrooper statue flanking a door.

3 Floyds wants to add 2,300 square feet of space to the brewpub. It will add a new entry vestibule, a new game room with more seating, an outdoor bar, outdoor restrooms and more kitchen space. It also is looking to add 3,200 square feet of covered patio space that will link the brewpub with the new game room, outdoor bar and outdoor Biergarten.

“The outdoor Biergarten will host seating and gaming areas nestled in a landscape surrounded by a six-foot high berm lush with native grasses, trees and flowering perennials,” Yahne said in the plans filed with the town.

 

Improved? I didn’t know FFF had family dining. Excited I can take my kids to eat now with deafening metal blaring so I don’t have to listen to them.

Are they turning this into HQ Beercade or Dave and Busters?

Part of the allure of FFF was that it wasn’t that welcoming to the average person and it was all about the beer. I guess it still will be, just surrounded by kids and with a softer touch and hopefully no dogs…

 

Probably right. It’s a seasonal so they probably have to shore up their release calendar and just decided to drop it until they can find a suitable hop replacement. They just expanded to Iowa distro I thought I saw so a small hop farm may not be making enough to keep up with FFF’s production levels.

 

Broo Doo has started hitting places, I grabbed a 6-pack at LP Binny's last night. Going to finally crack one tonight, and be pissed at myself I took so long.

 

It also sounds like this hasn't been approved by the city yet.

 

I recall seeing kids at the brewpub in the past, not often but if you went early in the day they would be there sometimes.

 

Well I guess you were there at the wrong time because I found it irritating they turned the music down and changed the horror movie when a family came in. Like, you know what you signed up for.

 

My expectations are a dedicated Dark Lord variant tap. Is that too much to ask?

 

Yeah, the brewery that makes beer that looks like it belongs in a Spirit Halloween really screams to out of towners "Don't bring your family to our chicken finger restaurant!".

 

"Yes, we are ready to order. My wife would like a sample of the Space Station Middle Finger, my daughter will have the burger with the undead pale ale sauce, I'll have the Eye Hate God hard seltzer collab, and my son would like a virgin Marshmallow Handjee, please"
