While I'm not a fan boy by any means, I do think the "negative" reviews often come from unrealistic expectations. I'd guess that 90% of the negative reviews go like "I drove an hour from Chicago, had to wait over an hour in line, and then they wouldn't let me have beers at the bar.." and because of that now the food sucks and the beer is ok. I think that there are many who go who don't realize that there typically is like 75 people in line an hour before they even open on a weekend...so it's a little busier than your Chili's down the street.

90%? I dunno, the vast majority of the people I know who have been to the brewpub agree with me that the staff is probably the least friendly/welcoming service crew we've ever encountered. I've yet to have a hostess who wasn't on the verge of being outright rude, and with one exception, service to my table has been relentlessly poor. These are complaints I have heard from many (although not all) people who have been there to eat.

I get that they always have a long wait to get into their space, and that they are tired of answering questions about Zombie Dust, but I don't think that excuses a near-total lack of politeness. They are a popular restaurant that draws a lot of visitors from out of town and they have a beer that, justifiably or not, is one of the most sought-after beers in the craft scene - I feel like it is reasonable to expect that answering the same question over and over again will come with the territory.

Oh and for what it's worth, I very much enjoy their food and beer.

I hear ya..90% is just the number people throw out when trying to just make a point that there is a decent percentage of people who will say the experience was poor if things don't go entirely as they want it to be. Just playing a little devil's advocate is all! Can customers at times be completely unreasonable? Yes. Could Three floyds be a little more accommodating or at least less dickish when explaining their policies? Yes.

I've been going to three floyds since I turned 21 years and years ago and I have never had a bad experience. On the other hand, people going in expecting hugs from the bartenders and wait staff may be in for a letdown. I remember like 4 or 5 years ago, I was sitting at a table across from the front door and some dude walked in was like "I'm from Orlando! Can I take pictures?!" And the guy got mad because the door guy didn't respond with "YOU'RE FROM ORLANDO?! GET OUTTA TOWN!"

Seriously. The food is great, the beer is great. Just take in the atmosphere and experience. It's a brewery in Munster, Indiana.

I expect to be treated like a King everywhere, hence the user name. Not really, but either way your post had me confused. So as a customer, I need to be polite, but embrace the staff's rudeness? I'm polite and friendly in most situations and expect the same from a customer service perspective. Appreciate what? That 3 Floyd's acts like they are doing me a favor by actually serving me something at their place of business?

See, this is what I have a problem with - as I said in my previous posts, I don't feel like it's asking much for staff to do their job politely and efficiently. If I'm not drunk or obnoxious, it is absolutely not being dickish to expect the staff to do just that. Both times I've actually gone into the brewpub to eat, they have been curt, dismissive, and generally unpleasant for no discernible reason (they weren't even THAT busy - the wait was like 15-20 minutes last time). I have literally never had similarly lackluster service at any other of the (many) breweries I've been to.

I'm not asking for hugs. I'm asking for basic decency when I'm trying to give them my money. Sorry man, but telling people to just shut up and just accept crappy service is dumb.

Going to FFF for the first time tonight. Likely won't be there until later, 8-9ish and will be with my wife and in-laws. Is it going to be loud and crowded? Will we even get a seat? Should I try to talk the in-laws out of coming with us?

Also - I see ZD is on the to go list today. Will that last until I get there (assuming no, but had to ask)?

    Thanks for any info!

Loud? Yes. Extremely! 8-9 on a Friday, probably jammed. Expect a wait (guess 1-2 hours). ZD there at 8-9 on a Friday night; slim chance.

    Good luck!

It'll be better than Floyd's that's for sure. No nighttime experience for me there though...just daytime.

Skip 18th street and stick with FFF.

Three Floyds is generally not hard to get into later in the evening. The smaller the group the shorter the wait. They still had a good amount of ZD last night but don't know if it will last to 8-9 tonight.

Possible to do both in a 3-4 hour window?

Thinking maybe 18th st first...then send the in-laws back to their hotel room while the wife and I try to hit up FFF??

Am I getting too greedy? :stuck_out_tongue:

FFF will be crowded early and taper off between 8 and 9. I say stick with FFF. Food is awesome and it will be loud. You may even get to watch some retro cartoons while you jam out.

I wouldn't even bother with 18th. Your in-laws would have a better time at FFF IMO.
