I acquired a 3 gallon wheat whiskey barrel last week and have been searching for a stand.
seems I can only find wood stands for 5 & 10 gallons and the big metal ones for 30 & 50 gallons ones...

any leads on finding a 3 gallon stand? would the 5 gallon ones work or are they too big (in length)?

I would hit up the local lumber yard and build one to fit it myself.

I've considered that. my issue is lack of word-working knowledge and tools

Nick how high off the ground are you looking to make it?

only to raise it off a table top by a few inches, mainly for stability.

In a pinch, you could use wedges on both sides for stability, could you not?

I bet if you ask the dude over at Original Gravity he might help you out to build one. But the easy way would make like 4 door jams.

THe only thing really needed is a screwdriver.
Wedges would keep in in place, I personally would attach them to each other across the bottom - side to side. A short piece of wood, and screw the wedge to the long piece, you're good to go. Of course, with more skill and tools a decorative stand could be made...maybe you have a friend that can help out?

yeah, I hadn't thought of the wedge option till mentioned above and I've got some scrap 2x4s to use as the base...
    thanks for the ideas
